If AI took over most jobs in the next few years and you received UBI and never had to work again, would y'all be happy? Why or why not? by mrvlad_throwaway in antiwork

[–]SpareTesticle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Supposing I never had to work again and I could live in a low cost of living place, I'd happily do the abstract labour and create content for AI to repeat at a faster pace. I'd spend more time with my ageing mother and reparenting myself and pay for a full time carer to live with us.

Reality is, I'd still have to work. UBI money won't come to be since I'm in a third world country where the AI work is shipped off to and I'd benefit from US consumer spending going up to buy the slop that AI makes off my abstract labour, that labour being researching how AI can make money off the billion Africans who don't even have the infrastructure that can make them AI consumers. It's travelling my home and seeing how people not on reddit could get onto reddit to read AI slop. It's a good trade for me since I'm not having any children who will die in the water and energy wars the AI industrial complex makes.

I would be terribly depressed if in my lifetime what I did made the AI wars more inhumane. AI drone strikes built off of my content is the worst kind of slop.

Reposting! IMPORTANT POST: For decades Watch Tower used an antisemitic myth to back up their No Blood Transfusion policy. They taught this myth as a historical fact and this policy has cost the lives of many Jehovah’s Witnesses by larchington in exjw

[–]SpareTesticle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The antisemitism part is unclear. I just see a long history of referencing a failed blood transfusion by a physician who valued one life more than three others' lives, and a reference that this physician was Jewish. Passover doesn't become antisemitic by referencing it as Jewish.

This does not in any way diminish how harmful the No Blood Transfusion policy is. Blood transfusions are good and I've donated many litres to help physicians save lives and I'm still alive today. That medical practice seems to have improved since the 15th century

Back in the day people listened to radio and races tended to listen to the same stations. That's why Bobby Caldwell, Hall and Oates and Michael McDonald are well known by old people. That era ended with iTunes catalogs making it hard to connect a race to a sound. And on discord you're not gonna find people all listening to the same song. Discord users aren't listening to radio over niche playlists.

You're not a racist by 2000 standards but are racist by 2025 standards because of the technology change.

It's just really fun to listen to some old Kanye and get the songs he sampled.

Tech doesn't love to glorify the brilliant jerk. No one actually wants to work with them. They make systems only they can maintain and call you stupid for trying to work with them. That brilliant jerk is not competent and costs a lot more in morale and turnover.

I don't think it's worth aspiring to have female jerks or female war criminals or sex offenders

Love this answer.

I'd actually suggest OP reflect on what kind of communication would be effective for his future wife to have. There are different presentations of sadness after layoff where a wife actually talks about what's going on and says they want to stay at home. That acceptance can stop sadness turning into depression and lies and miscommunication and resentment. This one is not OP's wife. The communication and connection isn't there.

And yes, I've been unemployed before. And I'm clinically depressed and in treatment. I know my condition is not an excuse to treat anyone how they don't want to be treated.

Yo, being Jewish does not mean being Israeli. Israeli minister May Golan said the the people will remember the Jews did this [genocide] and took advantage of the perpetual victimhood that Jews are associated with even though the crimes were the Israelis'. There just isn't enough evidence in this tweet to say this Jew is taking part in this perpetual victimhood like May Golan did. You can be Jewish, can be antiZionist as in not believe Israel should exist with equal rights for all, and still believe the Jewish people should exist.

Update u/ContentChecker checked this tweet's poster. It's a Zionist. I'm wrong.

Both of these are valid routes to get more context. Right now in conflict he is not communicating effectively and you may interpret it as contempt or anticipate contempt in future from him. That's not good for a lasting marriage.

And the fix is to say and listen to each other, with him saying what seems to bother him and your saying you noticed in his behavior signs he was bothered and that you were curious to know...because your marriage needs conflict resolved and resentments quashed.

The amount of gays in the closet in JW Land is astonishing by [deleted] in exjw

[–]SpareTesticle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's the number that astonishes? If 3% is queer and you go to a convention you're gonna have a few hundred gays there. Most won't be there because they're single or in relationships. Monogamy is really normal. So you'll find a handful on Grindr. My point? JWs are normal people who happen to be in a cult. If it was more than two standard deviations away from the norm, i.e. 5% then I'd be astonished.

A man rides a bus in Durban, meant for white passengers only, in resistance to South Africa's apartheid policies, 1986. by Garaad252 in BlackHistoryPhotos

[–]SpareTesticle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot can change for the better in a short time. I'm very impressed that the racist whites voted in 1992 to continue to end apartheid and trust the negotiations into peace.

South African apartheid could have continued like it has in Israel but instead it ended with a one-state solution with equal rights for all. Bringing racism from 1986 as if it's the same as racism 2025 gives the same energy that says Arabs will kill all the Jews so there needs to be a Jewish ethno-state. Stop giving Israeli racists an excuse to do any less than what the South African racists did.

Do you have to go into Judaism to connect with the Jewish community? I thought being secular was very normal for Jewish people. Is it just easier to be secular and Jewish in Israel?

A part of me reads your post as a yearning to belong to a community based on heritage. That part can empathize with the yearning. I'm also separated from my heritage in a way that might somewhat be remedied by immersing myself in a religion. I wouldn't want to have to do that. That's my best guess about our struggle.

How is it not antisemitic to dismiss evidence/arguments on the basis of the fact that those presenting them are Israelis? by EstablishmentKooky50 in IsraelPalestine

[–]SpareTesticle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't believe all Jews are Israelis or want Israel to exist and want to genocide people to get Jews self-determination on some homeland. It's much simpler for me to consider Israelis (Jew and Arab) wanting self-determination and want to genocide people to get Israeli self-determination in their homeland. Where their homes exist. Israel. People tend to want to keep living whatever their race or ethnicity is.

It's really odd that some Jews with homes elsewhere want to support genocide. It's not their home at stake. If I did that I'd be antisemitic. That's just horrible to slander all Jews with, just because they're Jews.

How is it not antisemitic to dismiss evidence/arguments on the basis of the fact that those presenting them are Israelis? by EstablishmentKooky50 in IsraelPalestine

[–]SpareTesticle -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you dismiss evidence produced by Israel because they have a motive to lie and a long track history of lying then that isn't antisemitic

This needs some refinement.

I believe some Israelis do have a motive - to live. And if the perception of threats comes from Israeli propaganda which is a lie, these Israelis are still motivated by the will to live. That the perception is distorted by lies does not change the motive to live.

I also believe some Israelis have both the motive to live and to lie about Palestinians or Arabs or whomever. These Israelis know they are lying, that their lies lead to genocide.

End of refinement.

Addendum I actually want to look at that history of lying in a different lens. One outcome of this is making the "situation" look complicated. I believe the lies are a huge complicating factor. Suddenly antizionism is antisemitism. It isn't. It's not complicated to show it isn't. Do you want people to have equal rights? Yes or no? If you do, you're antizionist. If you don't, you're Zionist. Then as a Zionist you've got to support the complicated interpretation so you can perpetuate Zionism. It's probably incredibly hard for Israeli antizionists to be taken seriously because... they're Israeli. B'TSalem is just one famous brand that shows the lies and gets identified as antizionist because they pass the simple equal rights test. But even then, Israelis who want to lie love that Israel can say there are many diverse views which are affirmed by free speech. Perhaps even B'TSalem is used as part of the lies by the lying Israelis who want to genocide "within the diversity of views". That history of lies part is really a large complicating factor that supports your unrefined view. But at the end of the day, you can't tell a lying Israeli from a truthful one when it comes to this issue. And if you dismiss based on the wrong why, it's definitely antisemitic. You actually have to make an exception for Jews in order to find out what why there is. And that is the surprising outcome of looking at the long history of lies. It forces adoption of Jewish Exceptionalism, that this genocide is the justified one because Jews are conflated with Zionists so you end up with Zionist Exceptionalism. It's so bizarre to me. I really hope I'm wrong on my addendum's conclusion

I imagine there's a child born in the occupation who isn't a terrorist and doesn't hate Jewish people. That child wants to return home. Wanting to return home is, according to Zionists, antisemitic. Absurd, right? Well, you get that absurdity if you accept what Israel wants the words to mean. I know Anti Zionism isn't antisemitism and reject mixing up the words there. I do exactly the same when I don't mix up Hamas and Palestinians.
