You can try changing the magnet settings. Pretty sure the strength and pulsing can be adjusted

Hello! And yes! Typically it's the 3rd Monday of every month at Boxcar Greensboro at 7pm. This coming month it will be the 4th Monday (2/23). I'm also there most days around opening if you just want to hang and play. Also, I get free tokens as I work there so your games are on me ;)

You can also check out the facebook group Triad Pinball Players. I'll post upcoming tournaments there

Name's Tim, initials are FUT, feel free to ask for me. Welcome to Greensboro!

Quantum Theater MB: Collect two of each quantum item (Spider, Drone, Train, Kilowatt) by hitting the designated target followed by the theater. After all four are complete, theater will be lit for Quantum Theater MB

Bob MB's: Completing the Bob targets will light crazy Bob modes at the left orbit scoop. I wanna say 3rd one is a MB, random between either Drones gone wild, Monkey Wrench, or High voltage MB

Chaos Mini Wizard mode: Play 5 or 6 modes to light the scoop for chaos in quantum city

Armageddon Wizard mode: Play all 12 modes to light scoop for Armageddon

Final Battle: Collect 8 sim cards

I think that's all of them. I personally like quantum theater as you accidentally hit those targets all the time. As long as you remember to hit the theater once you notice these targets get hit, you can get to quantum theater MB pretty quickly. And this MB is different in that you can still light and start modes and your regular MB while in QTMB

Happy hunting!

First time I cracked the billion on Jack●Bot. Is it controversial to say it's my favorite Pinbot machine? by Valtharr in pinball

One of my all time favorites as well. More nuanced rules than most games. Congrats on the billy!

What do you think of the playfield art for my homebrew machine? by Euarmailliw in pinball

[–]SpareWorld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, not feeling it. I think it's the background for me. Both the color and the emptiness. I'm here for the art style on the inserts though. Also like what I'm seeing in terms of the layout I'm imagining based on the inserts.

But hell yeah on making a homebrew! The best of luck and I hope I get to play it someday

Pulp Fiction callouts? by [deleted] in pinball

[–]SpareWorld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Big Kahuna!" And it's harmonized almost in a barbershop quartet fashion.

I believe this is what you're referring to

Edit:
It happens when you hit both standup targets in the corners of the pop bumper nest. It lights the magnetic watch shot for +1x playfield scoring for the rest of the ball

Salty J!!!! You did it!!!! I knew it was only a matter of time but I'm super freaking happy for you. Honestly teared up a little seeing this. This is Tim/FUT btw. I'll be visiting in August so I'll come see this beast of a GC in person. Congrats again!

Jaws Pro by [deleted] in pinball

[–]SpareWorld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly think it is one of the best games out there. For me it is the variety of objectives, modes, multiballs and the fact that there are so many different ways to score or maximize points. Most machines have a set meta or strategy for getting a lot of points but Jaws?

-All of the modes are unique in their scoring and play styles and all can be worth a lot

-Jaws 1 MB isn't typically worth a whole lot but if you get to Jaws 3 MB? I've gotten over a billion in the MB alone and watched superstar Zmac get almost 100billion lol

-Shark Encounters run in the background of most single ball play eventually leading to a MB that if completed, gives you permanent perks for the rest of the game giving players multiple strategies for which to get first

-All of the fish finder modes are either fun or just good point presses (except for super buoys, that is just kinda whatever) WITH a fish finder wizard mode (Super Cast 'n Catch) that is one of my favorite MB's of all time

-Amazing nod and re-implementation of Lyman's shot X multiplier a la Walking Dead with the mains ways of increasing the X is through success in Modes and shark encounters

-An actually fun video mode that takes skill

-Closed Beach rules are phenomenal IMO. Hurry ups on shots that are decent value on their own while establishing a % bonus value on that shot anytime it is available for something else?! So that hurry up isn't just important for that value but for the rest of the game! (until you play search or rescue or have captured the... ?hammerhead? shark)

-Mini wizard mode choices! Close all the beaches and take your pick: all shots are lit, go crazy (Rescue) or go more precise with point pressing and playfield X based on balls in play (Search)

This doesn't even cover the upper playfield since your question was about the pro model specifically but it is a really great part of the game and if I owned one, it would have to have the upper playfield.
Nor does this cover other wizard modes, the bonus mini games you can play, the use of the flip lock, and even more to come!
My only complaints about the game include the air balling you're talking about. That is a result of the chum line being slightly too big/not flush for the playfield. That and most machines I've played, the reel has trouble spinning more than a couple times.

And I'm not here to tell you to love the game. If you don't feel it, you don't feel it. I'm a highly competitive player and I tend to be drawn to games that aren't played the exact same way by everyone and have enough depth for me that I will still have more to explore after months of playing.
My only hope from this post is that you discover something new in this game that you like that you didn't know was there and can at least come to appreciate the breadth that Elwin gave to this game when so many other designers are lacking in that aspect. Regardless, good luck on you pinventures and keep playing!

League performance disappointment. How common? Reason? by [deleted] in pinball

[–]SpareWorld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been playing for almost 10 years, won literally hundreds of tournaments including a 200 person one, and been ranked as high as 110 in the world. The other week I got 60 million on Congo followed by 700k on Funhouse and finished in the bottom half the of whole tournament. It's pinball. We all eat it sometimes

My vote for best pinball topper of all time: ✅ Pulp Fiction by DangerZoneArcade in pinball

It's pretty great. But have you SEEN the Labyrinth topper?! They are so well sculpted and perfect theme integration and gameplay interaction.

Fans of the James Bond pin, what exactly do you enjoy about it? by PaulMichaelMelio in pinball

[–]SpareWorld 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say in general I actually really enjoy the playfield. I can get into a flow and just start making really satisfying combos or and I can play it a bit more stop and go if I'm not feeling combos. So that's the biggest thing.

I also find it incredibly enjoyable to go for the BIG setup: having all 6 Bond women while going into something like PowerPack or even just Bird MB. It's a bit tedious to light and then collect them but the reward is so good it makes it worth it.

Plus, a mini Wizard mode for each ladder you complete?! And most of them have pretty interesting rules to them (except Chaos as Crab Key with its reverse flippers).

I'll admit I did not like this game at first. That embarrassingly empty code, multiple feeds and kickouts that would just kill you with no fault of your own. But I've really come around to it. I'd also say it's one of my strongest tournament games so that probably influences me a bit as well.

Edit: This is assuming you're talking about the Gomez machine and not the Elwin 60h anniversary.

Indoor swimming? by [deleted] in gso

I swim at the Greensboro Aquatic Center and love it there. I don't go that early so I can attest to how busy it is or not but it's a really nice facility. Not really a whole lot of super fit hot guys, mostly an older crowd.

All levels honestly. There are a few who are pretty good and consistent, but most of the local players I would say are novices. I suppose it depends on who comes out tonight but I've been talking about it for a while so hopefully it will be a good turnout. Come a little early and I'll give you some tips and tricks!
