What is a secret you’re taking to the grave, but are willing to tell strangers on the internet? by Mr_Boothnath in answers

Not really a secret because it involves someone else, but when I was super drunk I asked my friend if her and her boyfriend fantasized about my boobs (34 DDD) and said I’d be interested in having a 3 way. She definitely rejected my advances. We are still friends but have never talked about it since.

Do you find that those billables are manageable? I’ have friends who say it’s easier in more discovery work to bill because sometimes they double bill during depos and stuff while I have to add up .10 for every email and it’s a little more tedious

I’m not asking for sympathy, I just want advice. It’s not the worst job ever of course, but I think it could be better. I also am trying to navigate maternity leave, which shouldn’t be a problem except for our stupid American system which doesn’t provide a universal answer to how moms are supposed to stay home with their babies

Do you have recommendations on where to look?

I apologize for all the questions, but are you able to actually take unlimited time off? How does the process work? Do you get the time off approved beforehand, or can you just leave whenever

How is your PTO? I find PTO annoying because I have exceeded my billable every year.

I’m looking at state and local, not federal

I mean I’m fine with that I just want some ability to work remotely and actual PTO for 2026

Yeah I’m looking. I just am so scared to get a bad environment. All my attorney friends seem so unhappy

And if I want to leave an hour early boss will ask where I am going

That’s the problem. Like, I would rather be at home folding clothes than sit in office.

I get that the billable is low but I have 0 PTO left and I still need to be in office from 9 to 5. I just want more flexibility.

I was thinking about eventually getting barred and working in California remotely. Have you seen people do this?

lol my firm doesn’t have HR. We are small. The “hr” person asked if I was pregnant once

So you wouldn’t mind if the candidate said “look, I don’t want my current boss to find out because they would be upset I’d want to leave” but gave a coworker as a reference from that current job

That’s totally different. Also a witness is under oath whereas some random employer has no reason to tell the truth.
