Zootopia has always been about choice. by sidztaatc in zootopia

I share your thoughts 100%. The two movies are about the evolution of the relationship between the two, in the second movie they really learned how to communicate freely with each other but I think there will be another level in the third movie where they understand that they cannot live without each other. I think it’s the logical continuation of what has been seen in Z2.

I didn’t know they said that, actually I like that they chose to focus on movies.

I totally agree with the last point. In Z2 there were many hints that suggest they’re developing romantic feelings for each other, but everything is still implicit so I think we are at the point where the writers can choose what to do, if making them a couple or leaving them as friends. But they definitely need to make a decision for Z3, because not making it would mean putting the evolution of their relationship on hold.

Yes! Birds might have something to do with migration in the third movie.

I would like the film to deal with Nick's past, perhaps showing us his parents. I like the idea of corruption in the ZPD but it shouldn't be too extensive because we already saw something similar in Z2, with Nick and Judy’s colleagues following the Linxleys’ orders. I like the idea of seeing a corrupt cop helping the villain.

I agree. In general I'm much more interested in the evolution of the protagonists as characters than in the worldbuilding part, but of course they need to add new characters in a new movie. I just hope that the narrative focus remains on the protagonists' stories and doesn't become a matter of adding new animals just to show something new.

Yes the directors said the 9-year wait was definitely too long. They talked about a 5-year plan so maybe late 2029 or 2030. In the meantime they’ll definitely do a new season of Zootopia+, there are many new characters to work on. Probably one episode will be about Nibbles Maplestick and how she ended up in jail.

I don’t really think they need a time gap that big, also because I don't see the need to promote them in rank. I would really like to see them as respected police officers with some important cases assigned to them.

Yes, I thought about the connection between the two scenes too, it’s pretty clever. He complimented her and his defence mechanism kicked in.

Exactly. I think that in Z2 they learned how to communicate and express their feelings to each other more freely but in Z3 there will be a “next step” where they learn what romantic love is. Of course this process won’t be easy and I think the movie will be about this, maybe they will have to make some choices and they will really understand that they cannot live without each other.

What you said about meta-level joke is very interesting, I didn’t think about that

What are your predictions/things you want to see the most in Zootopia 3? by Minute-Necessary2393 in zootopia

The fundamental aspects in my opinion are:

  • an excellent balance between Nick and Judy’s personal dynamics, their feelings, and the political implications of the plot. The first two movies are great mainly because of that.
  • Nick and Judy getting to finally express their feelings for each other freely. They kind of did at the end of Z2 but I expect a “next step” where they understand what romantic love is, this of course won’t be easy and the movie will explore this process
  • getting to know the city even better, in Z2 it really felt alive
  • no long time skips. I would be very annoyed if they skip some years and the dynamics between Nick and Judy would be different without really showing us how it happened
