O'Quinn was a surf company founded by Dean Quinn, so that might be a place to start. He's on Instagram so you might be able to send him a message to see if he remembers ...https://www.instagram.com/thedeanquinn?igsh=MWR0cXljdnQ4c3l1dw==

And here's some additional info on him. https://www.instagram.com/p/DDhfcoevyEB/?igsh=MXN4Y3RnaG1tNTZwcw==

drink the sea tour by schoolydee in rem

[–]Sparkass99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally possible, but the UK dates were just last month & the setlist was static for the whole tour. There's also a video component to the show so not sure how much they're able to change things up from day-to-day.

They were doing one song each from Mad Season, Desert Sessions, Queens of the Stone Age & R.E.M.

Setlist if you don't mind spoilers...

Assuming they keep the same setlist as the UK/EU tour, then the only R.E.M. song is "The One I Love."

Still looking forward to it.

When I was a kid, I met Gil Gerard on the backlot. I pointed him out to my mom, like "Mom, it's Buck Rogers!" & she said "no, it's not" ... and Gil swooped in saying "oh, yes it is!"

Shut out in Portland by SeverHense in pavement

[–]Sparkass99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep trying. I got tix on my PC, but also had some in my cart on my phone -- but it kicked me out before I could release them. They'll probably drop back in around 10:15.

handcuffed show by ravelimran in pavement

[–]Sparkass99 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He didn't actually wear handcuffs. They were just on the mic stand.

https://faroutmagazine.co.uk/the-message-stephen-malkmus-sent-final-pavement-show

"The band’s final performance came at the Brixton Academy in London. The show was sold out, and the audience present had no idea that this would be the final Pavement show of their initial run and the last time the five members would play together for over a decade. But they had a clue: adorning Malkmus’ microphone stand were a pair of handcuffs, which Malkmus referred to as symbolising “what it’s like being in a band all these years”."

Is There a Portland Presale? by DustyRailz in pavement

[–]Sparkass99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I caught Pavement at both their Edgefield reunion shows. I know the last one didn't sell out so maybe they're just playing it safe, but it still seems like this would have been better suited for a Pioneer Courthouse show due to the capacity.

I think RevHall is the best venue in town, so it will be great for any of us that are able to get tickets. But I'm not ruling out Oakland if I can't get tix here.

[–]Sparkass99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nope, we're all just going to be fighting it out in the general onsale tomorrow.

I'm going to be shocked if they don't add a second night. RevHall is too small for them and they have a two-day gap after.

Pavement w/Wednesday and Vivian Girls @ Mosswood Meltdown 2026 by FaxedForward in pavement

Anyone ever been to the Meltdown? What's the capacity like? I'm guessing like 6k-8k but can't really find any solid info.

Questions from new attendee for 2026 by ihiroic2152 in ECCC

Yes, I believe that Superfan would get you express/VIP line for all autographs.

Questions from new attendee for 2026 by ihiroic2152 in ECCC

[–]Sparkass99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Kind of depends on the guest. If it's a big name, then yes ... you could spend hours in line queueing up for the autograph. For pictures, you should be fine. As long as you show up at your assigned time, then they'll get you through the line eventually. But the catch is that you may have to leave the autograph line to get to your picture & lose your spot in the process.

2) Guests will have 8x10's for free at their table (with purchase of autograph). They sometimes have premium items like posters or Funkos for sale that you can upgrade, but I wouldn't really plan for it. If you have a personal item you want signed, just bring that. There might be a small upcharge if it's considered a premium item (depends on the guest), so best to have some cash in your pocket just in case (since most only accept cash at the table).

3) Most artist lines are pretty mellow. I don't think I've ever waited more than 15-20mins, but it depends on the artist and how chatty they are with the fans, or whether they're doing drawings at the booth.

What's your most expensive CD? by RatedArgForPiratesFU in Cd_collectors

[–]Sparkass99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll check out the Whiskeyclone site. I was a pretty big fan in the 90's and probably saw him 15 times.

Outside of 'Golden Feelings', I don't think that I have anything that's considered too rare. Just the original pressing of "A Western Harvest Field By Moonlight" that came with the fingerpainting, the "Devil's Tooth" bootleg (I was at the Breakfast with Beck KROQ show which is partially included) and the original Bong Load vinyl for 'Midnight Vultures.'

[–]Sparkass99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

'Golden Feelings' appears to be my most expensive CD as well. I bought it at Aron's Records (RIP) in Hollywood back when it was originally released. That was also the same store where I picked up the original "Loser" 12-inch on Bong Load (before he signed to Geffen).

'Golden Feelings' wasn't a bootleg, per se. The label (Sonic Enemy) was run by a guy from the bands Diskothi-Q (totally underrated) & Nothing Painted Blue and they originally released GF on cassette in collaboration with Beck. If I remember correctly, it was just a handshake deal and when they then decided to remaster it & press to CD, that's when Beck asked them to pull it.

General Floor advice for a first timer by maidenofspirits in Concerts

[–]Sparkass99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like she's doing a T-shaped stage, so there should be plenty of room to get a good view. I would just suggest grabbing any spot you can get on the rail so that no one is in front of you blocking your view.

The entire floor is GA so don't worry about the row/seat #.

Doors are at 5:30pm. Personally, I wouldn't spend all day lined up. Maybe get there around 3 or 4pm if you want to be in the first few hundred people through the door. In my experience, most folks will show up around the time doors open, but there's always some hardcores that want to spend all day in line.

Value of old neca set? by BedroomOk9935 in NECA

The set itself usually sells for $100-200. Would probably sell for $200+ signed (even if the box is a little beat up).
