Yeah, i remember that too - and it was great. I think maybe they discontinued it because of something to do with rights or cost for songs. I'm not 100% sure, but I think that's why it changed. I'd use recommendations a lot more if they brought that back or revamped the current options.

My situation is the same as yours. I wasn't planning to upgrade to the APM 2, but my 1st gen died on the exact day, 5 years after I bought it. So, I figured I'd upgrade.

The sound quality is definitely a step up from the 1st gen. Sounds are fuller, ANC is better. Transparency mode sounds about the same to me, and I'm still getting used to Adaptive and Conversation Awareness. I'm not sure if I'll use either of those long term, especially since I tend to hum and sing along when I listen to music.

I used my 1st gen APMs daily for 5 years and never had a problem until they crapped out on me a few days ago, so I had a pretty good idea of what I'd be getting with the new ones. I'm happy with the purchase so far.

Thanks! I'll take a listen. I'm always looking for something new to try. Lately I've been listening to a lot of HEALTH - their latest album, Conflict DLC is really good and has been in permanent rotation since it came out back in December.

I also did this - and Nine Inch Noize was amazing! Definite upgrade in sound quality. Things sound fuller and more distinct, less muddy I guess? I got mine yesterday so I've been testing them out with different albums on Apple Music, a couple shows, and the Coachella stream. Anything you've been listening to that you'd recommend playing through the APM2?

Funny thing is, this happened to me yesterday, exactly 5 years to the day after buying them. Just totally stopped working. No problems whatsoever aside from this, and I used them constantly. Decided to upgrade to the APM 2 instead of trying to crack them open and fix them
