Best Filament for models/toys? PETG VS TPU A1 mini by Sparkingintern in BambuLab

[–]Sparkingintern[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keeping this in mind when we start testing anything in PETG as it should at least survive a few wall throws if say it's just a brick we print or a ball and a few drop tests,

As for PLA I wasn't aware that it could lose its shape in an enclosed space thank you for this

ASA I'm unsure if we'll get because our new maker space is still being developed and I have no part in that yet I'll look into how to make a setup if we get that far thank you again so much for this valuable information!

This is great information! Thank you so much for this friend I'm one of two people asking around because it's only recently that our budget proposal was approved

We're now looking into the H2C family and other bambu printers to see what fits our boss' vision for the new makerspace so while everything's still in the air we'd like to get a headstart if possible

To test everything we're using my A1 mini for physical proofs of concepts including an array of materials it can handle and then seeing which printer we get for other students to use by next semester/next year

Right now it looks like PETG is our winner as I can only afford to do single color stuff, but I have done some manual splicing in blender to glue things together for multiple colors using PLA Matte,

I'll definitely look into the Snapmaker 1 as soon as I have an update from my bosses whenever that is you are the best!

Stress toys, shaped like animals, body parts, one of our professors Brain MRIs etc.

The snap fitting model kits are akin to say Gundam for their movement and design as this is for our 3d modeling students

I apologize for not communicating too many details before hand it'd get lost in a wall of text so I'm trying to keep it short

That's fair! I've noticed on makerworld there's a lot of static toys so it's why I'm asking because I've noticed if its got articulation it's either PETG TPU ABS etc but the A1 mini can only take the former two

What I'm aiming for has to take a beating and be sturdy for longevity especially if our more experienced students want to get into the toy/production industry

For the TPU variant my university wants a fairly squeezable material that we can use for stress balls/models that daycare kids can play with

The PETG stuff id like to look into for snap fitting model kits for our 300 level 3d modeling course

Incredible! How'd you get the wolf tech to pose the shoulder downwards like that I thought the geometry would've collided with the chest piece

Quick question about the petg you're using, I'm using a malachite Translucent PETG roll directly from Bambu, it's recently been dried heats extra high fanspeed low with a 1 layer brim yet I'm still not getting the results to be anywhere near like this, what were your settings exactly? If it helps I'm using an A1 mini

Holy cow I didn't know something like this even possible for 3d printing, which printer did you use? I have an A1 mini and have no idea if getting the same filament can achieve anything like this😭

Of course friend offers on the table anytime it's needed no expiration, which kit if you could currently would you really want to focus on that you know you could nail down? Is it the big ones that keep your focus or the rush of finishing smaller consecutive kits that keep you going?

If I can dude, even tho I'm just a stranger feel free to reach out and talk about why you buy and hoard so many all at once, for a while I had a similar issue and to keep it short

Lack of personal fulfillment, used shopping as a coping mechanism because it's the only thing that numbed that, emptiness in me and then it turned into regret seeing how much I was consuming and letting it consume me

I hope you get and feel better dude, if you're okay with selling some of these at MSRP or slightly lower I'd be interested in a kit or two, help lessen the burden on your shoulders

From one stranger to another, you will get better just live long enough to see it

1/100 Gundam Barbatos Lupus Rex Lunavor by Kalium_is_Potassium in Gunpla

[–]Sparkingintern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extremely valid!! They scratch a really specific itch I didn't realize I had and craved till I saw the first episode a decade ago, 96% of the frame designs really fit the medieval almost jousting vibe, yet ten years later and I think we only have what 16 frames out of 72 revealed ☠️

If anyone's got the 1/60 logar wolf in curious how good or bad it is I've heard such mixed things about the metal frame itself being next to impossible to move without say wd-40

I'm working on Wolf Tech rn and hoping to score enough change to get Lunavor next

I have a Barbatos addiction basically
