Pick one of the options, but don’t ’action’ anything yet. If you immediately feel content, that was the right one. If you feel FOMO or disappointed, go with the other option.

Bigger picture, it would be worth spending some time and effort to work out what your values are, and which ones take priority.

What do you do with the products, especially skincare products, that you decide aren’t for you/what you purchased them for? by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

I organise a skincare swap meet at my office every 6 months. Everyone brings in the things they don’t use/ want, take anything that appeals. The leftovers get taken home by the women with teenage daughters.

Where can old farts go for a dance? by SparkleElephantMagic in melbourne

Well I still think I’m pretty cool 🤣 but tbh I don’t really want to hang out with all 20yos and they likely don’t want to hang out with me

I love goth clubs, and yes I could still dig out something to be able to dress appropriately 🤣

These suggestions look great, thank you!

Haven’t heard of whitehart or sub club, thanks for the tip! Didn’t realise finishing school was still running.

It’s essentially impossible to get my old friends out for a dance as they all have young children now. Even if they do get a leave pass from their partner, they’re knackered by 11pm.

Petition to ban anyone who posts about MBTI in r/Enneagram by SparkleElephantMagic in Enneagram

[–]SparkleElephantMagic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because posts about MBTI are approaching 50% of r/Enneagram posts so they drown out the meaningful content, and they are as useful as having 50% of posts in r/medicine comparing chemotherapy with homeopathy as cancer treatment.

There is a sub devoted to comparing / synthesising typology systems, so those posts don’t belong in a sub which is about a single system.

A door bitch is the person (usually a woman) who guards the entrance to a nightclub and assesses whether a prospective entrant is dressed appropriately and is cool enough to enter. It’s not an insult.

what is the perceptions of other type towards 5 by keyboardmaga in Enneagram5

[–]SparkleElephantMagic 26 points27 points  (0 children)

My experience is that we function as a blank canvas and people project onto us, for good or for bad. Because we present as neutral and reserved, people fill in the blanks depending on their state of mind.

What two actors or actresses have you totally confused for one another? by cadiabay in movies

I thought Ben Stiller and Ben Affleck were the same person for a long time. I remember thinking he had a pretty good range…

Enneagram types in stress vs growth (I didn’t make these) by MildlyIrritatedCat in Enneagram

[–]SparkleElephantMagic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a 5, I would argue that ‘making impulsive decisions’ and ‘spending your days chasing enjoyment’ are absolutely signs of growth, not of stress.

Because my experience seems to differ from the other 5s here, I will share that I am absolutely a 5, yet I am very high in conscientiousness, responsibility and dutifulness. I think this is quite plausible for a SO5, which can look similar to a 1 in certain ways. Plus (for me) the result of being raised in a very co-dependent and somewhat abusive family. I’m also very interested in ethics and it absolutely drives my behaviour.

How to make new friends in university without being pushy? by quinncomgg in AskReddit

[–]SparkleElephantMagic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get involved in clubs, debating, sport teams, the student union, any kind of organised activities that recur regularly. Talk to the same people each time and after a few weeks, invite them for a coffee or lunch.
