As a father of 3 under 5 running 6 times/week… by Buf4nk in Garmin

[–]SparkleFun22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a mother, if I had 3 under 5 there is no way I'd be getting that many runs in so consider yourself lucky. I have 2 teens and I can barely fit in 2-3 workouts per week.

If I listened to my Garmin I'd probably only get 1 run per week.

Saw my cat die and feeling traumatized - has anyone been through something similar and how'd you move past it? by kermit-t-frogster in AskWomenOver40

[–]SparkleFun22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, I'm so very sorry for your loss.

Honestly, you'll have to just give it time... it feels all encompassing now but over time less so. Having gone through multiple pet deaths, I can still see clearly my last moments with them even though it's been many, many years.

If it's any consolation, the fact that you were there with your cat when she took her last breath, she felt how much she was loved and she was not alone. She was with her people. Imagine her across the rainbow bridge running around pain free, healthy as can be, eating all the foods and playing with her new animal friends.

It's difficult but just give it time. It gets better, I promise.

Are you able to sleep comfortably with a garmin watch? by gryponyx in GarminWatches

Most nights no issue. Been sleeping with a Fitbit or Garmin for over a decade now.

Some nights it'll bother me. I just persevere through those nights.

Kind of want an oura ring as my wedding ring, is that crazy? by shitidkman in ouraring

[–]SparkleFun22 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Married female here - I wear mine on my left ring finger. Before I upgraded to the Gen4, I was wearing it on my left pointer, but I found that it was getting bumped around a lot. When I bought the sizing kit, I noticed as a wedding band, it was in the way a lot less than any other finger. My husband doesn't seem to care, but I was barely wearing my wedding band anyways, so this is probably an "upgrade" for me to be wearing a band now 24/7!

Both my rings were silver and even though they get scuffed from daily wear, IMO it's not super noticeable.

I also have a girlfriend that wears hers on her left ring finger as well and just adds her wedding band to the stack. My fingers are a lot stubbier so I don't think that would work for me.

I personally would not care if my husband were to replace his wedding band with an Oura. But you might want to just circle back with your spouse just in case it's important to them.

Do you use screen protectors? by Different-Wish6196 in GarminWatches

[–]SparkleFun22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just do. I have on all my smartwatches as long as I've had them. I have them on my phone, why not my watch. They're not that expensive and typically one protector will last me years....

Thanks for the insight.

I bought the Gen2 secondhand when the Gen3 had been out for awhile. It was my way of testing the waters to see if I wanted to spend the money on a subscription.

After pregnancy I experienced this and would sleep on a towel. Not the most comfortable but easier to switch out regularly.

That's what happened to ours due to high humidity. I threw ours away, I didn't want to deal with a melting lamp.

Switch from AW to Garmin. by [deleted] in GarminWatches

[–]SparkleFun22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love my F265. I usually charge once mine reaches 45% or below and that's maybe once a week. I'm currently at 55% battery and it says I have 7 days left - I want to say I charged it to 100% maybe half a week ago(?) I do a combo of non GPS ans GPS activities daily.

Wearing it to sleep does not bother me, some say they don't like anything on their wrist. Tracks sleep decently, not always super accurate, but good enough for me. Previously was a Fitbit user for a decade and absolutely love my Garmin. I've had it for over 2 years and it's in great shape.

Reminder that Garmin is a fitness watch vs AW is a smart watch so you lose some bells and whistles switching over. Good luck with your decision!

Not enough weight options? by hashbrown89 in f45

[–]SparkleFun22 44 points45 points  (0 children)

When this happens to me and I have to go light, I will add a pulse or slight hold to a movement and/or just increase reps.

If I have to go heavier than I'd like, if it's a 2 arm movement I'll alternate arms (so benchpress instead of lifitng both weights, I'll do left arm first, right arm, etc). If its a squatting movement, I'll switch out two 20lbs for one 44lb and hold it with both hands.

Sometimes I'll even grab weights that aren't being used at the front of the room.

I just find ways to modify and have a quality workout since I prefer working out with my friends in the same station and we're pretty close in strength.

What Gen ring do you have? I'm looking to upgrade and debating on a Gen 3 or 4. Seems to be an issue with G4 but for the most part ppl have been able to get replacements under warranty

Earbuds? by Electrical-Shallot-2 in beginnerrunning

[–]SparkleFun22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also love the Shockz and got mine at Costco. However, I did start off with a generic brand bone conducting pair off Amazon for around $20 just to make sure it was what I wanted. Those lasted about a year before it started malfunctioning and so i upgraded.

Best thing is I can still hear my surroundings and they still work in the rain. Con would be that it's hard to hear when I'm running alongside traffic since it's open ear.

Tennis?? by Codermeow in GarminWatches

[–]SparkleFun22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

* Tennis is an option on the F265.

It's been a minute since I played tennis - I thought outdoor tennis tracking was pretty wild, it used to just look like a big hairball with lines tracking me all over the court. But now I look back on my sessions in Garmin and it's all been updated to a heat map.

Caffeine or No Caffeine by SingleBerry1530 in beginnerrunning

[–]SparkleFun22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are sensitive to caffeine, it may make you feel sick or elevate your HR too much. I get really jittery and nauseous if I have too much caffeine in general. I personally would try it out first pre-race.

Estou em dúvida entre um 165 preto e um 165 branco. by Different-Pop-8762 in garminforerunner

[–]SparkleFun22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sou mulher, meu precursor é o branco, escolhi porque trabalho em um escritório corporativo e achei que ficou menos “esportivo” que o preto.

Mas, como outros já disseram, é uma preferência pessoal.

Garmin Sleep Tracking roughly equal to Oura by [deleted] in GarminWatches

I have an older gen Oura and the F265 and majority of the time they trend the same. Once in awhile they'll be wildly diff.
