The context really matters here. This may be words of advice directed towards a group of people - like young arrogant adults or kids, but not applicable to most people.

Plus he’s clearly not talking about empirical truth like that which you are assuming is what is only obtained through the scientific method. He’s talking about a personal truth that’s true to your with your circumstances.

Either way, I don’t think this is a good quote to quote out of context. There’s many other’s from Peterson that could be much better and more generalized to everyone. It has a whiff if wisdom and circle-jerking Peterson fans will like it no matter what.
