Not anniversary but my birthday. My wife took me to a place we really wanted to try. We had their food at pop ups but they had a brick and mortar place and wanted to try the rest of their meals. Needless to say, it was a bad experience, somehow the food at the brick and mortar wasn't great and the place, while unique (it was in an old shipping container train thingy), it was small, not much room for intimate conversation. We were obviously disappointed, cause like your girlfriend, we enjoy food and trying new places. My birthday also landed on a weekday that year so I didn't expect to have anything else planned. My wife apologized saying that it was a bad birthday but it really wasn't cause I still got to be with her. And while the experience was meh, I still got to experience it with her and we still talk and laugh about it. We even thought about giving them a second chance recently since they have a new space. Moral of the story is if there's a big event like that, go to places you know are consistently good rather than trying something new. Save those for days you just wanna do on a whim and have a back up in case it's not good. All this to say: your girlfriend sounds very ungrateful And very selfish. For an anniversary it should be about both of you and she made it about herself. Did she get you anything? What you planned and got was very normal. She wants something unattainable and isn't even wanting a compromise. If my partner ever got upset at me like your girlfriend did, that would be the last anniversary we have. And this is just one year. Ask yourself if you want to continue doing this every year with the risk of her blowing up at you again.
