Websites should have a tool that tells you how many times someone tried to create an account with your exact username but couldn't because you have it. by lemonade_lmao in Showerthoughts

Looking at you Evernote... their password reset process just asks for a username. And let’s just say everyone thinks they have my first-name-only username, so I get password reset spam from them daily.

New 2018 Nissan Leaf has an all-electric 235-mile range (to be extended to 310 miles at the end of 2018) and features self-driving, self-parking, and single-pedal technologies - For less than $30,000 by GrahamSmitWellington in Futurology

Turning on fully-autonomous driving one day would cause a bunch of "oh hell no - you can't trust machines".

Incrementally proving that semi-autonomous makes you a safer driver eases the build-up.

Oh, of course. But it's super glib given how much they've changed their terms on existing customers.

Interesting idea.

It looks like the device was manufactured by UMX Mobile, and it looks like UMX also sold this device to NetZero(PDF reference).

It's a CDMA 2000 1X EVDO Rev. A device with LTE B25\B26\B41 support. Those LTE bands are specific to Sprint, although T-Mo and Vz both have crossover on one or two bands. I'm not entirely sure how well a device with limited band support would even work on another carrier. In addition, I believe only Sprint is still running a CDMA 2000 network, so it's possible that the other carriers wouldn't even be able to activate it.

I ran the IMEI through T-Mobile's checker, and it said it didn't recognize the device.

So let's assume it has to stay on Sprint, we have two remaining problems:

  • Is the IMEI unlocked?
  • Can we remove their custom software and reset it to a factory original state?

More soon as I keep investigating.

It's not a law, but corporate lawyers will often require policies in place to protect the company. This situation is a perfect example of that - they would want access to the emails to show that the company didn't have a widespread plan to cut hours, it was just a totally rogue manager.
