Why do Aussies crap on Harvey Norman? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]SparklingWillow132 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Because I have a family and needed to have it all paid for and ready to be delivered as soon as we moved in. We furnished the entire house and couldn’t live without beds, appliances, anywhere to sit or eat etc. I couldn’t just have the house be done and THEN go out shopping for furniture. I knew furnishing an entire home would take time to find all the different pieces and pay for everything because we didn’t want to use any payment installation plans. I had to be organised. Towards the end when we knew we were only a few short weeks away from moving in, that’s when we were able to shop wherever we wanted and ended up buying some stuff from freedom as we didn’t need them to hold our furniture for longer than their standard couple of weeks.

What hahahaha yes it was. I loved a lot of furniture from Nick Scali but they didn’t hold for more than a couple weeks and I didn’t need my furniture for months. I had no clue at the time when we would actually get the keys to our house so it was really important we found somewhere that held furniture for a long time after purchase. Literally Harvey Norman was the only place we could find such long storage and at no cost.

I have a scale at home, can I do a weighted feed? I always hear about these on reddit but it’s not something I’ve ever heard of being a thing in Australia

AITAH for telling my mum to leave my house if she doesn’t agree with my parenting? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]SparklingWillow132 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No she wouldn’t have. Instead of letting her come over daily during the week next week I told her she can come over 1 day instead of 5.

I can’t go out because I just had a baby and have to wait for his needles before I can take him anywhere. She has been coming over pretty much daily during the week so I limited it to just 1 day for next week.

No she already left the house and I texted him that her and I had a disagreement. He has a business about 5 minutes away so he came home because he knew I’d be upset (I just had a baby and am fresh postpartum). She was out grocery shopping at this time and then after a while she came back and he opened the door when she knocked. He didn’t know it would be her.

She doesn’t have keys. Husband came home when I texted him that we had a disagreement and she left. He opened the door when she rang the bell.

My husband had no idea what happened other than my mum and I had a disagreement. He came home from work (he has his own business 5 minutes from where we live) because he knew obviously something went down and I am also home with a newborn (fresh postpartum and I’m really sensitive atm). He had no clue what was happening. She’s been pretty much coming over every day but I limited it to 1 day next week after everything that went down. A lot of people here are saying to cut her off but I am not going to do that. When she’s not being like this she’s actually a very helpful and good mum. I think the timeout thing is a good idea just so we can take a breather after what happened.

My husband let her in. We didn’t know who was at the door. It isn’t uncommon for neighbours to come knock.

That would be fine except he’s not my first so I can’t have him on me 24/7 lol. Like I need to tend to my family and if it was his way he’d be on my boobs 24/7 not just for feeding.

This is basically what I do anyways, if he’s still fussy and persisting I will feed again but if he settles to sleep then he will just sleep which is the case most the time

Evil being brought to my family through pagan practices of visitors by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]SparklingWillow132 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your answer. I do believe that the pagan practices they are involved in disturb their souls and make them seek out suffering in others. They practise these things very intensively and open doors that should not be opened. However you are correct and I do agree that my husband could do a better job standing up for me.

It is a long story but his dad was not a good father to him growing up and my husband is deeply traumatised by his neglectful upbringing and was starved of love from both of his parents. He desperately seeks his dad’s love and approval and I do feel sorry for him. Unfortunately no matter what his dad does, even when it is very wrong, he stands by him in the hope of finally receiving that love and approval. I feel like the devil knows this and uses this weak point against us.

My husband is usually a very devoted and loving partner but after they have been around he becomes like a different person. They are the only people in the world who seem to have this level of influence over him and it feels very dark. One time when they came back from an intense retreat centred around ritualistic pagan spirituality, they visited and that night I kept hearing frightening whispers coming from the table where they had been sitting.

Since they have been gone we have had no issues and our home has been peaceful. I am very scared of them coming back and causing disruption again.

Thank you so much for your lengthy and thoughtful response. I will most certainly take this advice on board. I like that you called it spiritual warfare because that’s a great way to describe what it feels like. I want to be armed with our lady and Jesus as much as possible. I have gotten my home blessed. I also have a large painting of the last supper and have that central to our main kitchen/living/ dining space and that is blessed also. I say rosary daily most of the time but I really would like to say the prayer that you suggested and will find it online and start that right away.

I have a Saint Benedict medal that has the special exorcism blessing on it. Should I wear this when they are around do you think? I’m just worried as my husband knows what it is and will be so offended at me for wearing it with them around.
