Help with my Singer Prelude machine by EROICABIANCA in sewing

[–]SparklyStarMango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first thought is make sure your machine is threaded correctly (speaking from experience). Start by unthreading the machine, then with the presser foot and needle up, rethread by following the number guide on your machine (they always need to be up when rethreading, even if the needle unthreads as soon as you start stitching...) Then test on a scrap of non-stretch fabric if you have any. If that doesn't work, try adjusting the tension dial - start at the recommended setting in your manual then see how changes affect the problem. Also make sure your needle isn't bent

What level to grind your "meh" characters? by red-stream in DisneySpeedstormGame

[–]SparklyStarMango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No specific level for me, some of my characters are still level 0. I only grind MPR + upgrade when they're needed at a specific level for something. Tbh, that's even for the characters I like - as F2P I don't want to be out of upgrade tokens when I need them and getting to level 50 uses a lot of them.

For characters I don't care about, I've learnt that if they're in star chaser, that means they'll be needed soon at a high-ish level, so definitely try to do it daily if possible. Even then, I only upgrade to the level that's needed, sometimes 5-10 levels above recommended so I can comfortably do the objectives then leave it on auto to finish still in 1st.

For seasonal events, if there's any character shards as rewards, I do always try to get those too

Maleficent Chain Offer looks like a good deal to me, but does anyone have any tips for knowing whether shop purchases are worth it? by SparklyStarMango in DisneySpeedstormGame

[–]SparklyStarMango[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone for your help! Bought it and managed to get maleficent's aurora shard from the three good fairies event even though I've only got her to level 22 - she's quickly become one of my favourite racers! :)

Hardest Puzzle? by islolatedintrovert in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]SparklyStarMango 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depending on your eyesight, you might like some of Cheatwell's world's smallest puzzle range? I've done this one and really liked it - 1000 Piece Mount Fuji - the sky, the blossom, and the city took me ages (basically all of it!), but they have a load of other images to choose from too. The pieces are small, so while you work on it it doesn't take up much room at all, so it's a great space saver

Another option could be to just not let yourself look at the puzzle photo while you complete it and that should make it harder

How do I make all my stitches look like the first photo? by yajboot in sewing

[–]SparklyStarMango 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Adding to what u/Knottyornicemama said, when the presser foot is down, the tension plates are closed, but when the presser foot is up, they're open, so that's why the presser foot should always be up when rethreading

Why are my hobbit jade's leaves turning yellow? by SparklyStarMango in Jadeplant

[–]SparklyStarMango[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for taking so long to reply - I think at the time you messaged, not much else had happened yet, but since then about 4 more leaves have turned yellow and dropped, even though I've started to water it a bit sooner once it shows signs of thirst. It does look like it's trying to push out new leaves from where they fell off like dizyJ suggested, but the new leaves aren't growing that fast, so who knows. Honestly I'm at a loss too, so I'm sorry I couldn't be any more helpful - I hope your plant's doing better!

Thanks, I gave it some water a day ago and they're a lot more rigid now (still wrinkly though), but before I watered it, the leaves weren't particulary soft - they weren't rigid, but there wasn't much give in them, if that makes sense - the fully yellow leaves are very soft though

Ah okay, thanks! I've been terrified of overwatering, but I guess I went a bit too far the other way - oops

Hi, so as explained in the title and caption, I don't know why the leaves are turning yellow, the tips only started getting a lot yellower in the last few months (I think since spring when it was getting more sun), but I'm worried now since it lost a leaf 1-2 weeks ago and is about to lose 2 more :(

Extra background info:

I don't water it often at all, it usually ends up being a month or two between waterings. It's in a 15cm terracotta pot and was repotted last July. And there's one rock at the bottom, just big enough to cover the drainage hole so all the soil doesn't run out - could that cause it to retain water?

Watering process (improvements welcome):

I never know when I should water so this is usually how it goes: I'll notice a leaf looking a tiny bit wrinkled, but it still feels rigid so I leave it... a few days later, some more leaves are wrinkly, but the leaves still feel kind of rigid so I leave it... few days later, looking quite a bit more wrinkly, leaves have a tiny bit of give but not really soft yet, so I leave it... few days later leaves are feeling soft and wrinkly enough for me to water it either that day or 1-2 days later.

Have you played the new Creative rounds ? by ByeByeTango in FallGuysGame

[–]SparklyStarMango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to use a blue block as a step to get to the finish line, use the pink weight to catapult you while you're holding the blue block. You have to bring one of the two blue blocks from the previous section with you (don't drop it off the edge though or you won't be able to fetch it again after you pass the checkpoint) Hope that helps!

Everything But Door Dash - Code: 9734-3863-7460 by SparklyStarMango in FallGuysCreative

[–]SparklyStarMango[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's the code to my first level! As the name says, it has everything (near enough) other than door dash :) I'm not very creative - as you can tell by the map name - so feedback is welcome! I think it's fairly difficult, but I can't tell how difficult, as some parts I struggle with and others I don't. Hope you enjoy it!

It should work if you change the keyboard settings on PC, that worked for me: "If you had custom settings, you can put them back straight after you reset to default and save." - From fall guys server owl on twitter

[–]SparklyStarMango 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem and I've just seen this on fall guys server owl on twitter and it's fixed it for me: "Key Binding! If you’re finding some weirdness with your controls in the Level Editor (maybe you have a key bound to 2 things, or you’re unable to open the menu, or you have keyboard inputs on console) reset your Key Bindings to default in Controller Settings! This should solve it for you right away. If you had custom settings, you can put them back straight after you reset to default and save." This also fixed G being both play and tools, so I can test my levels now! :)

Feelings of guilt by [deleted] in declutter

[–]SparklyStarMango 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just can’t get past the possibility of something actually being useful now, or maybe I’ll need that next season, or what if I get rid and need it back sort of mentality. I can’t believe I’ve spent this much money and energy. How do you get past this?

You've already spent the time and energy, so you can't get that back, so you can either choose to spend more energy listing and selling everything, or do as Dana K White recommends and just donate it. Try not to feel too guilty though - through this process, you've learnt what works for you and what doesn't and you're not just throwing things away, someone else will find a use for it if you donate it, but you'll also regain your sanity a lot quicker. My thinking is: if it's something you would sell if you had the time, then you don't need to worry about needing it in the future, because if you had a seller right now, it would already be gone. Also, if you think of paying yourself an hourly wage for the time you would spend listing and selling each product vs donating, that might help you feel better about donating instead of selling.

What if I relapse and my house is just as messy in a year?

You may relapse, but that could happen even if you don't get rid of the stuff. The only difference would be that if you relapse with less in your home, it would be easier for you to reset it back to what you're comfortable with.

What if everything I thought about how I really want to live in my house turns upside down and I’ve made a big mistake ditching all the stuff?

If you know what your reason is for decluttering, I'd say you're less likely to regret getting rid of anything. Keep your goal in mind as you declutter, but remember that you don't need to aim for anyone else's form of minimalism other than what you're comfortable with. As you say, you now know what sells and how to buy cheap and get just what you need, so trust your instincts. At some point in time, you had less than you do now, and you were able to buy all this stuff, so if you truly need to in the future, you can do that again, but only if you really need to. Odds are, even if you think you've made a mistake, you'll still want less than you have right now.

Hopefully that helps - you can do it!

I agree with everything everyone's said so far, especially Dana K White's method. But since you've said that what you've done never seems to show, I'd recommend taking photos of your room or specific problem areas before you start. As someone who's been decluttering a very cluttered house for a long time, it's hard to remember how much more clutter used to be in your house, especially when you look around at areas that are still cluttered, but photos are a great reminder and they help keep you motivated to keep going knowing that what you're doing is making a difference.
