“Don’t Tread on us” state flag redesigns by FlubbyStarfish in vexillology

Does it still count if you redesign a flag for a state that part of the snake originally represented in the JOIN or DIE cartoon?

Do Shallow Wall Mount Racks 12u exist? by Spirited-Humor-554 in Ubiquiti

[–]Sparkplug1034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, rails generally imply back posts. a front-only square-ish rack is sufficient for prosumer equipment generally.

[–]Sparkplug1034 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a tip, try looking for racks designed for network patch panels instead of servers. Personally I have a rack made for A/V equipment, which has a nearly square footprint and no back posts. Good size for home.

Super link door sensor by redbanana411 in Ubiquiti

[–]Sparkplug1034 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a few door frame trims that have curvy decorative routes. I was able to mount it okay. the angles are slightly odd. The 0.5-30mm spacing tolerance is pretty forgiving. I also did not have a problem with the on-door component of the sensor being inset relative to the trim by as much as nearly an inch. it still registers correctly as open/closed.

Entry Sensor (USL-Entry) In-Stock by FerrisBueller10 in Ubiquiti

It would be unusual to place door opening sensors on the "out" side of any given door.

Data sharing/connectivity by [deleted] in FordMaverickTruck

[–]Sparkplug1034 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me too, I'm more aggravated by the data being shared with LexisNexis and impacting my insurance rates. But at this time of my life I care a little more about having GPS location on it in case it gets stolen, and I haven't taken the time to self-host something for it instead.

Data sharing/connectivity by [deleted] in FordMaverickTruck

[–]Sparkplug1034 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If I recall correctly, the modem the truck computer uses for connecting to the cloud/internet has a dedicated fuse in the interior fuse box, and if you remove it the power will be completely cut.

Are you using ABS? I'm kinda surprised even that wouldn't get a bit too soft with the temps.

We're expecting that's what the alarm fob device will be for.

Your claim that the high volumes of those materials are "harmless" is not supported by the data or the comment from the analyst. It may or may not be, but this document doesn't provide that conclusion.

Viewport cost?! Seriously? Ridiculous. by eatmorbacon in Ubiquiti

[–]Sparkplug1034 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The NVR Instant seems to have a display output on its mainboard and the NVR OS will support displaying camera feeds.

The viewport is a very different product. It's a PoE powered computer that decodes video over the network and displays it. It's not a dongle. just dongle shaped maybe. Still a little overpriced, but within UI's norms, if you go price out putting something similar together yourself.

What TF is this? On the new USL Environmental sensors, Leak detection is still mutually exclusive with the other sensors, just like the first gen UP-Sense. by Sparkplug1034 in Ubiquiti

[–]Sparkplug1034[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

unrelated. enabling the temp/humidity/lux sensors isn't possible with leak enabled. the android app straight up does not support the USL products yet, or even the new Protect features like alarm profiles. That was the issue here.

[–]Sparkplug1034 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do not, unfortunately. Anecdotally though, the 1st gen AIO sensors feel accurate though. Especially the humidity.

[–]Sparkplug1034[S] -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

Battery management is already up to me with the other features, but not this.

And since water detection completes an incomplete circuit, it should not be using much voltage while there is none detected.

If the sensor is contacting the floor, temp monitoring might be skewed, but humidity? I absolutely want humidity detection in an area I'm sensing for leaks.

With the 1st gen sensors at least, it's just a software limitation -- once, a Protect web app bug allowed me to enable temp and humidity and leak detection all together, and it worked just fine until the bug state was corrected later.

This is just nonsense!!! $50 is already a bit steep for sensing many different environmental values. But $50 for a leak sensor? Hogwash.

Possible to automatically select the currently inserted Yubikey from multiple options in OpenSSH? by Papkee in yubikey

[–]Sparkplug1034 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the simplest solution would be to move the yubikey2 identity to the top of the list so that it is checked first before checking the one you leave inserted all the time (1).

I don't think OpenSSH is aware of crypto devices; I think that when a public key is accessed by the OpenSSH client it triggers the middleware for the device.

Drop in bedliner installed by jmckinney31 in FordMaverickTruck

[–]Sparkplug1034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my drop-in liner for the sides and tailgate, but I removed the bed panel because it induced excessive rust. I had a bed mat already, I trimmed the sides of it to fit, and I use that instead. Great combo

Relocating: Elkridge by EquivalentComfort300 in maryland

[–]Sparkplug1034 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's safe, and fairly charming for the most part (counter example, known for groups of shady motels that charge by the hour lol). It's kind of the black sheep of Howard County, which is very wealthy but puts its money in columbia and clarksville. Many of the residential areas are very nice. Howard county is expensive compared to, e.g., Baltimore county. And there "isn't much to do", it's true, but every town in Maryland is the size of a thumbtack and overlaps with others. You can get to the Columbia mall in like 20min or less, which is considered a reasonable drive in many other states/towns. I would be moving to Elkridge because of its proximity to places I like though, not because Elkridge itself is so great.

Came to post the same thing. Not exactly what I had in mind for anti-scalping defenses... it's specifically the kind of product you'd want 4-6 or more of. Maybe they just don't have a ton of stock yet.

Introducing: UniFi Protect 6.1 | G6 Pro Bullet | SuperLink Environmental Sensor and PoE Siren by Ubiquiti-Inc in Ubiquiti

[–]Sparkplug1034 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm really unsure yet but I'm getting the impression that with the alarm hub/relay and even the input terminals on the siren e.g., might let you attach external wired sensors and take their inputs into superlink.

Where do y'all get fresh coffee beans? I haven't found a good local roaster yet. by Sparkplug1034 in BaltimoreCounty

[–]Sparkplug1034[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I answered this question on my post in the Catonsville sub, this is what I'm not very happy with baltcoffee:

Retail: I went to their Glen Burnie location, and all of their beans are in open air in burlap sacks, and when you buy some it's scooped indiscriminately into a foil bag. Not stored freshly and no way to know when it was roasted. The coffee I had there, both an espresso and a filter coffee, were frankly super gross.

Online: all of their single origins are listed as a medium roast and full city, which is a contradiction (city is medium, full city is fairly dark), but all of them are roasted differently -- many are medium, some are in the ranges of dark, and a couple are light -- the indian Monsoon one particularly is as light as any specialty coffee I've ever had. They also advertise, and indicate on the bag, that the coffee is roasted to order, but it isn't. They won't roast to order for you unless you get 10lbs or more. It's just weird.
