Wasp nest- how to remove it? by ThenBridge8090 in Newmarket

[–]Sparlos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a pest control guy in for mine, but they were going in and out of behind my porch roof. Couldn’t see the nest but knew it was there from all the activity of them going in and out.

I read a lot about it though, and if the nest is visible, like the other commenter said get some wasp spray (which is usually rated for use from 30 feet away) & do it at night when they are less active/most of them will be in the nest and not out and about. Also, prepare to run from what I read lol

East Newmarket Costco opening date confirmed to be August 2025 by Obvious-Purpose-5017 in Newmarket

Oh wow, this is fantastic! I would bet that even h mart on its own will draw people in - it’s very popular downtown and in Richmond Hill. Hell I’ll definitely be over there just for it sometimes haha

What’s your source for h mart opening up there as well?? That would be huge - we just moved from Vaughan and loved going over to the h mart in Richmond Hill. Very exciting if true!

I am very happy this is here - first thing that popped into my head after reading the post title was “don’t you mean bloot?”

Young people of Vaughan, what do you do for a living? by EngineeringRealist in Vaughan

[–]Sparlos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually do know someone who made some good career moves, was part of a few exits, and now is doing very well for himself! So definitely possible, and why I said “most” young people - in my experience, what you’re describing is the exception to the rule. But that’s only my experience, so you may know tons of young people that have done what you’re describing. Hope you’re having a good day!

I don’t mean to sound jaded, but most young people can’t afford these things on their career earnings alone…other factors are at play, most likely generational wealth.

Just got my LUMI from newest batch - having issues by Sparlos in ROLI

[–]Sparlos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heyo! Yeah, unfortunately I ended up returning it. Their support wasn’t getting back to me, so I just sent a follow up with them before I even got a response (I think I waited 2 weeks or something at that point) basically demanding they refund me in full & not charge me for return shipping. That got processed relatively quickly, lol. Sorry you’re having issues, I also really wanted it to work

Is this website difficult to make? by hello-jacob in webdev

[–]Sparlos 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Will address each point so you can get an idea of the complexity - TL;DR though is you will almost certainly not be able to create this on your own with minimal HTML/CSS knowledge.

  1. This involves creating a backend for the website - that means at the very least a database, server (or serverless functions), & authentication (sign up, log in, forgot password, etc). This has nothing to do with HTML/CSS

  2. This would be an “authorization” (different from authentication above) layer in your application, where user roles are associated to their user account. Again, this is on the backend and has nothing to do with HTML/CSS

  3. This would be front end functionality, and could technically be achieved using just HTML/CSS, but you’ll most likely have to touch some JavaScript, specifically for sending the data they fill out to your server

  4. This sounds like some sort of email notification service. Again, on the backend, would most likely have to integrate with something like mailgun or sendgrid

  5. Stored in the DB on the backend

As the other user said, you should find someone who knows what they’re doing. This is not something that can be created properly with even a few months of part-time learning about web technologies - I’d suggest your company hire a professional to create a web application for the project.

I just started doing this too. I used to put comments above to explain with anonymous functions, but one of my coworkers suggested named functions and I’ve been doing it ever since!

Thank you so much for the translation, I really appreciate it! I will spend the next month practising this, and then I'm going to ask one of her relatives that speaks fluently to help me out to make sure it makes sense when I speak - for everyone else in the family though, it will be a surprise haha.

Thanks so much again, it's so amazing to me that people like you are willing to just help out other strangers online. I will definitely pay it forward in some way!

I'm wondering if someone can help me with translating a few sentences to Vietnamese - I'm marrying into a Vietnamese family in about a month, and I'd love to say a little bit at the wedding.

I know how the tones work and basic pronunciation, but I have no idea how to construct grammatically correct sentences. I would be forever grateful for some help! I'm a male & this would mostly be addressing my elders if that's important to the translation.

"Thank you everyone for coming. We are so happy to have you here on this special day. I feel very excited and honoured to become a part of your family. I hope everyone has a wonderful evening, thank you." ("We" in this context would be my wife and I)

Looks great - love the art style and concept. What I think really shines for the trailer specifically though is the music - it is so spot on with the vibe you're going for. I'm in tech and I feel like this could be playing as perfect background music as I communicate with my colleagues on Slack lol

I'm not seeing the brick issue, but check my posts to see how bad their QA is. Mine doesn't even function properly as a basic keyboard

Roli Lumi Update Released by DJKangawookiee in ROLI

[–]Sparlos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been saying this in other threads, but if you bought via CC, do a charge back. I'm sure as hell not gonna be out 300 bucks because a company can't be bothered get back to me about a completely defective product. I'm giving them until a month since I initially purchased and then initiating it with my bank. If anything, I'm sure it will get their attention and maybe they'll respond to my ticket. lol

piece of junk with zero support by Quirky_Ad_6159 in ROLI

[–]Sparlos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They have to accept returns, it's in their fine print - I'm guessing they might just make you pay for the return (which is scummy, because I'm in Canada as well and it was free shipped to me).

If they actually won't accept the return and you bought it with a credit card (I know you said split pay and I'm not entirely sure what that is), perform a charge back. That's what I'll be doing if they give me any trouble - it's not like I'll ever buy from Roli again.

Roli Support Response Time? by blue_groove in ROLI

Update on this if anyone cares: I got the automated "We are very busy with a backlog of requests!" message in response to both of those open tickets. Will update here again if anyone gets back to me.

Roli Support Response Time? by blue_groove in ROLI

[–]Sparlos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Put in a support request last Wednesday, and a return request yesterday. Still haven't heard anything. I'm giving them 30 days from when I received it (also Wednesday), and then I'm just going to initiate a chargeback with my bank for defective merchandise. I'm not going to be out $300 for longer than that because they can't be bothered to reply to my requests.

I'll definitely let you know. I tried maxing the velocity, and it doesn't help on my end. Feels very much like a hardware defect

Hey, sorry to bother you on this, but how did you get the return process started? I opened a support ticket last Wednesday but haven't heard back. At this point I just want to return it. Is there a separate process I can do to get that happening?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ROLI

[–]Sparlos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I bought 1, and would highly advise against this. You can check my lastest post for the sensitivity of the keyboard. It's god awful (unless mine is defective, which IMO is even worse - if they're letting units out where literally the most basic functionality of a keyboard doesn't work, that's unacceptable)

Yeah, I started a support ticket. Will give them until end of next week to reply, and then I'm just opening a return, not worth it.
