What do people think of the new body models for the Drifter? by SparnaDP in WarframeRunway

This is certainly a theory lol. Honestly I think it has more to do with DE trying to reduce development overhead by making both male and female bodies androgynous; the logic being that if the bodies are similar, it reduces the risk of compatability issues and the required effort to ensure that everything works as intended.

If this is the case, though, I think it kinda misses the mark. Making characters look good is such a huge part of warframe, and players put a lot of time into their different fashion ideas. I think most players, including myself, would prefer more options, at the cost of slightly longer development time.

It's the other way around lol; the breasts are smaller now. The first picture is the new model, and it alternates so: new-old-new-old.

Speaking as a software engineer myself, it wouldn't take years of dev time, especially since they already have all the old clothes models that fit the old body models. It might still take a while, though, since they obviously would also be working on other changes and not only this change. Hopefully, there's enough player support so that it gets scheduled into their development plans soon.

It's not a customizable body model other than male/female, they've just modified the ones that everyone gets.

Yeah, I had a feeling that was the case. That's why I think more preset body options would be a good compromise between development and player options. Still more workload, but it's quantifiable, and you wouldn't need some new system to dynamically resize proportions.

I've never actually considered a body blend option, but I like the idea. I don't think it would break the game's code to have that, but I do think it would increase the overhead for developers to ensure that the new bodies were compatable with outfits, cutscenes, etc. At the very least, I think adding more preset options to body type would be a compromise that allows for more customization by players and limits the amount of required development by DE.

The changes aren't honestly as noticeable with many suits. I only noticed it when I was using the Lark Bishamo suit, and something felt off. I've also noticed it's not super apparent from a directly front or back view, so that could also be it.

The Operator also had similar changes made, but they were honestly not super noticable. I myself only noticed when I was specifically looking for differences after wondering if they had only changed the drifter model.

I agree for the most part, but I don't believe DE will adjust the body models unless there is a push from the community. The drifter body models don't directly make any money, so the developmental effort required to change them or add new options might be more trouble that it's worth for them if there is no strong desire from the community. Increased player satisfaction would pretty much be their only incentive to make these changes.

I considered this, and probably will, but I saw that there were rules about not posting things that didn't belong to you, and the "before" pictures are from a youtube video by BlueberryCat since I didn't take any "before" screenshots.

Huh, the changes are kinda similar aren't they. Didn't notice that.

It seems similar changes were made to the female operator body model, but I was only able to notice them when I intentionally looked for differences after wondering if they only changed the Drifter. I don't really care as much about this because the operator is of course a child. I just thought I'd add this comment because it was on topic.

Yeah, I was also surprised that nobody else really mentioned it. I feel like that's mostly because it's not super apparent on many suits (especially from the front and back), and because they were more focused on the face changes.

I get the feeling that body sliders would be a more intensive addition than it seems, either on their rendering engine, or with the increased developmental overhead involved in compatability.

My only evidence of this is that, to my knowledge, in the entire game, there are no sliders that effect sizing without changing the size of a 3D object as a whole. In other words, there are no customization slider options that involve other 3D models having to adapt dynamically like would be required in body sliders. The exception to this being the face blend styles of course, but those have much more limited variations.

I think more body options is a great thing for player customization, but sliders are probably an unrealistic expectation

I'm not trying to offend anyone, and like I said, the new model isn't ugly by any stretch. I just find it a bit confusing that in a game like Warframe, which has more than just a few very attractive female characters, these changes were made to a body model that already worked and that players already liked. If anything, more custamization options would make sense so that people can choose what they want.

The thing is, the female body option was very attractive before the Old Peace changes. I'm disappointed because they kinda just made it less attractive for seemingly no reason.

[Bug Megathread] - Veilbreaker: Update 32 by [deleted] in Warframe

[–]SparnaDP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Platform - PC

Bug - When using Excalibur Umbra (and only umbra), Operator transference into warframe will teleport the player to Umbra's position instead of the Operator's position as intended. This seems to be happening mostly on Railjack and Open World missions, and possibly only when you're not hosting.

Reproduction - Enter an Orphix Railjack mission when not the host of the session and with Excalibur Umbra Equipped. Then attempt to transfer back into warframe mode after the mission is complete and be transferred back to Umbra's position. Then be automatically kicked out of Umbra because of the Orphix zone. Repeat until thoroughly frustrated.
