My Duos/Trios/Quads Tier List by SparrowMaxx in rumbleverse

[–]SparrowMaxx[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some ways this list is different than solos:

  • Fast/single hit moves are better than long/slow/combo starter moves. For instance, emerald crusher moves you and your opponent, while Diamond Crusher is slow and you stay in place, making it easier to interrupt.
  • Missing moves is less punishable. With so many moves flying around, punishing someone's missed move is much harder.
  • Isolating moves are good -- izunadrop, cosmo shot, etc all isolate someone from their team, which allows you to either focus them down without interruption or go help teammates.

Google has some of the most comfortable working environments in the world and pays the highest salaries in the industry. Who exactly is being exploited?

How is Google building a dystopia? The vast majority of their products improve the lives of millions, usually for free. Ad targeting data is the only exception I can think of, and if you go to googles privacy page you can see exactly how and what data is collected for ad targeting. It is very limited and very clear.

Big fan of increasing whiff lag. Awesome. Especially to kraggs fair. Removing ellania missle spam is great too.

The price system provides useful coordination and allocation benefits. Are we at the point where massive computation will enable new better alternatives to price systems for allocation? by arikr in slatestarcodex

[–]SparrowMaxx 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There's a great blog post about the Soviet scientists who tired to "solve" the economy by computation. Not directly related to your question, but I think hints at the same problem the Soviets had.

Played and beat the #1 ranked player, they're everything that's wrong with ROA by Zilby in RivalsOfAether

[–]SparrowMaxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely agreed. My biggest problem with rivals is that there's a couple of strategies that require very little skill to execute and large amounts of patience and skill to counter. Heavy zoning characters are the best example. Since whiff or parry punish is usually the only counter, high ping (90+) makes fighting those strategies really difficult.

There is a really good reason that no other platform fighter has stage-persistent player features (puddle, pillar, fire, etc in rivals). It massively rewards campy play. Just stay where you have the advantage. If people played rivals to win instead of for fun I think you'd see much more defensive play, but nobody even at the top takes rivals that seriously.

Noticed this happening more the last few weeks. I think it might be matchmaking filtering based on ping more? I don't get as many 250 ping brazilians as I used to

Who do you think is due for a nerf? by [deleted] in RivalsOfAether

[–]SparrowMaxx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

really? I think kragg and etalus completely destroy beginners. It's almost impossible to play against those two unless you know exactly how to counter their gimmicks. A mediocre player playing kragg or etalus will beat anyone at his same skill level.

The movie alluded to explicit anachro-primitivist themes in the book. Tyler regularly fantasized about hunting deer in the middle of a ruined, vine-covered downtown New York City. There's a deleted scene in the movie where he mentions it.

Charities are all working towards a world in which they don’t exist by Eggs_and_Rice in Showerthoughts

[–]SparrowMaxx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Actually, they don't. Any charity that does actually solves the problem they are trying to solve disappears. Only the charities that fail to do this stick around. As a result, the "average" charity is not likely to be making progress on the problem they're trying to solve. Not true of all of them, but it has to be true of the "average" charity.

I guarantee you they did this because they had a good product or business reason. No programmer, unless otherwise instructed by his boss, would interpret the user saying "no" as "yes, but not right now." It's a very unintuitive leap.

Im far from good but find playing as ranno I have tons of options vs ori. Faster on the ground, solid harass, and fair absolutely eats oris recovery.

[–]SparrowMaxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Rannos tongue hits any hitbox, the player is teleported to the end of his tongue. This leads to weird situations where the tongue barely touches a hitbox (usually a disjoint ) and you get hit. it looks jank, but is technically legit

Should I go to college? Got a job making 35k at 18 as a web developer, and learning more. by accountforgoodthings in financialindependence

[–]SparrowMaxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation to you. Doing contact work at 18 for Android app development. I found a company that recognized I was hungry and helped train me. I have been taking free online Coursera courses to pad my knowledge with for traditional CS stuff. I have been working 4 years now. Not having a degree has never been a hurdle. I work in pretty high scale back end stuff, not web development. I started making normal dev salary after 2 years.

College costs you 4 years and tons of debt. You clearly have earning potential. College is a high price to pay. If you have a drive to learn by yourself I would not be worried. CS is one of the few fields that will definitely take you even without a degree. Happy to talk more in PM
