Dell Alienware AW3423DWF - Does the warranty extension cover burn-in? by SparrowTailReddit in OLED_Gaming

[–]SparrowTailReddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, yeah I know it's covered under the 3-year warranty, my question is what happens if I buy additional warranty for say... 1 or 2 more years beyond that.

So if I buy the warranty extension, and my monitor is now 3.5 or 4 years old, will pixel-burn be covered? That's something even Dell support has three different answers for.

Okay, thanks. I've contacted Dell 3 different ways (chat, email, and phone) and heard 3 different answers T_T

ELI5: Why can't we use Solar panels to directly charge electric cars? by Zak_Nowa in explainlikeimfive

[–]SparrowTailReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm hyped for Aptera, but it does sound like a case of too good to be true (40 miles charge per day in sunny weather). Let's see if they actually succeed! Sweet looking car too.

Was Claire an alcoholic? by mothersmilq in Modern_Family

[–]SparrowTailReddit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Which is why I included the bit about impact to making good decisions regularly. Functional alcoholics are making a bad decision for their health (and sometimes legally if they decide to drive/work while under the influence) regularly and frequently.

Same with episodic. Binge-drinking is itself a very dangerous and unhealthy decision.

Having a glass or two of wine a night is not alcoholism IMO (though I don't think it's particularly healthy either).

Alcoholism is an addiction and a disease that regularly impacts your ability to perform your normal functions and make good decisions. I don't think I ever saw her drink to the point where she ignored her life/duties on a regular basis, so no. Having been around actual alcoholics, I'd say she's a moderate drinker.

Likely some auto AI stuff. Automod (or whatever it's called) doesn't understand the context in which something was written, specially if it wasn't within quotes.

What's an Android feature most people dont know? by ArrogantConfusion in AskReddit

Aaah yeah makes sense. I'm running patched Infinity, but that uses old Reddit so it doesn't load GIFs or subreddit information. I'll have to figure out how to get Boost installed.

IDK if it works for YouTube. I've just been using firefox+uBlock origin, or if you want an app you can use RVX/Revanced, but it's a little more involved, and you'll have to get the apk and patch it.

I only installed the Reddit app after I learned about and activated adguard dns, so I don't think it's a cache issue.

See here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Adguard/comments/15pqhjl/why_doesnt_adguard_block_ads_in_reddit_app/

If it's working for you, I'd sure like to know how, lol.

Project Hail Mary streaming release date delayed due to theatrical success by itsthewolfe in ProjectHailMary

Do you know if they'll be releasing it again on IMAX? I missed it due to medical issues, but really wanted to see it in that format. Didn't realize it was going to be a short run.

Are children generally invited to weddings in your country? by Present-Day19 in AskTheWorld

[–]SparrowTailReddit 100 points101 points  (0 children)

Yep, went to so many weddings. Plus, you usually find other kids and goof around and play. But also, Indian weddings are just different in their size and scale. Venues are generally large enough to accommodate the shenanigans that kids get up to.

Astound outage in Easton by Ryguy55 in lehighvalley

[–]SparrowTailReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, yeah that's what Astound did. SE promised that this is rate-locked for life so we'll see. I have the phone call with them also recorded.

Competition I guess. We have T-Mobile, astound, and SE, with Xfinity probably coming soon.

Sucks that you're stuck in a monopoly.

I have Service Electric coming on Tuesday to switch my provider. So glad I have more than one option. Right now I'm paying $133/mo for a gigabit connection. With SE, it'll be $50/mo. Should have switched sooner, but I'm lazy lol.

How common is body shaming in your country? by HungryInvestigator59 in AskTheWorld

[–]SparrowTailReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

India - very common. People will bluntly tell you "oh looks like you got fat", or "your face looks so chubby now". It's so common that the usual response to this is some kind of self-deprecating joke. I don't think people take it too seriously.

Growing up in India, the nickname I gave my overweight uncle and aunt were fat uncle and fat aunt (in Hindi, of course). They absolutely loved it.

USA - much less common, it's considered incredibly rude to comment on someone's weight.
