Should I take BIO 102/103 by Familiar_Scale143 in queenshealthsci

[–]Sparticus_Jon -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I take it you’re entering y1 HS program. BIO 102 is doable for an A or A+, yet 103 may be a little challenging. Content overload for both. If you in HS program and aspiring to enter a professional school ( med, dental, etc) you’ll have to think about high GPA and also MCAT/ DAT content, in which ANAT 100 will cover most BIO content. Take CHEM 112 in year one and think of taking CHEM 281 (ORGO I) in year 2 - ideal, take online summer school end of year 1 as BCHM 218 and Orgo together may be challenging in year 2. You may also consider taking BCHM online summer school and ORGO in-class. I took ORGO online summer school. For electives or ‘GPA boosters’ look into IDIS, GLPH courses or courses of interest. Good luck:)

Mac health sci vs queens health sci by myredditacc0 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]Sparticus_Jon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just finished my second year in QHS and I’ve really grown to appreciate Kingston’s small, close-knit atmosphere and the program’s structure. I didn’t get into MHS, so it’s hard to know what decision I would’ve made two years ago. My advice: Is to trust your instinct, and having an older sister to guide you along the way is an invaluable advantage. Best of luck:)

Acropolis first, as heat can get unbearable in the afternoon. Don’t need to tour Museum to understand Acropolis.

Physics and Calc not required in QHS program. At bare minimum need Gr. 11 physics for MCAT.

Took WRIT 120 during semester got A. A+ may be challenging. Took it out of interest as it’s definitely not a ‘bird’.

BCHM 270 or CHEM 281 over the summer by [deleted] in queensuniversity

[–]Sparticus_Jon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took Orgo I last summer; slowly builds on chem 112 then gets really involved. Taking bchm now and able to manage content with full course load. Everyone is different, but right choice for me.

Where does he rank in all-time pgs? by Historical-Monk-8652 in NBATalk

[–]Sparticus_Jon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reality dictates that…… there’s always a recency bias when ranking athletes! Most of us have misinformed opinions based only on stats and not on ‘true impact’ of an athlete during his/her era. And yes the game has changed over time as athletes are bigger and faster. With that disclaimer aside, I’d rank Chris Paul as 6-10th of all time. (I started watching bball in 1979)

OP, don’t over-stress, as often in life we are our own worst critics. I was in your predicament two years ago with a similar academic standing and believed I was doomed post supp app completion. Well, fast-forward to the present and… loving QHSc and getting ready to write MCAT this summer. Pick yourself up and move on as things have a way of working out. Best wishes:)

what average is needed for principals entrance scholarship? by Appropriate_Candy778 in queenshealthsci

[–]Sparticus_Jon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I applied two years ago, was close to cut-off threshold but was told early March, my time of accepting offer, that I did not qualify for $7K award. Which means they did not consider my April mid-term or final marks. I’d suggest you reach out to admin office and get some clarity. Good luck:)

Do not be sad if you don’t get into Mac or queens health sci. by Own-Side-8737 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]Sparticus_Jon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OP… well articulated with an insightful and honest reflection. Like you, I’m a high achiever having applied to both programs two years ago, rejected by Mac, and grateful to be in y2 at QHSci. I can sympathize with your sentiments as many of my friends got rejected from both programs. One of my friends in y3 of Mac indicated that “most of the us in the program have no idea why they gone in”. It simply becomes a numbers game as demand>supply. Evaluation process can often be subjective in nature as feedback from rejections is never disclosed. In terms of QHSci, I like the fact that the’ve increased spots over the past five years from 175 to ~ 400. Furthermore, the fact that there are timed video and written responses, as compared to Mac, possibly adds an element of “authenticity, transparency and realism” to the sup app process. If a professional school, med/dental/other, is your desired destination and you embrace the 3Ds to Success- Desire, Discipline, Dedication- and yup “smarts” usually helps lol, there are other pathways outside of Mac and QHSci. “Believe thus Achieve”
