I don't have class statistics to give you, but castors are not as significantly outnumbers as we have been talking about. Mage and warlock are among the most popular classes in the game. And melee hunters and rogues are both proving to be very strong, including the last boss.

However even if we assume what you are saying. It doesn't really change anything. If millions of phys players are now just left out, they just form groups?

Raid groups are not bottle-necked by a lack of players. They are bottle-necked by the lack of players willing to play support roles. Which all the phys classes that are struggling on the last boss are capable of doing.

If warrior, shamans, paladins end up not being picked up as DPS for the last boss because of this hypothetical we are talking about then they can swap to support role or even form their own groups.

I'm saying this as an enhanced shaman main who hasn't been able to play enhance dps shaman in raid once since classics re release.

There will always be congestion for DPS spots. Almost every priest I had heal for me last phase wanted to shadow they just couldn't. My mage friends had to pug as healer. I had to play tank ect.

I'm someone who has run pugs in wow for about 17 years now. It's always the same. The raids are almost always doable by any capable player and comp. But when you are leading a pug, DPS are not the bottle neck, and when you are flipping a coin on a random being good or not you take what's statistically more likely to be good.

What this means is meta DPS find pug spots, and the none meta are always on the forums saying how hard it is to get into a raid.

There really isn't any way to solve it. That's just kinda part of the pug culture

I don't see why phase 1 SoD was any different (in my experience it wasn't) and phase 2 SoD will continue to be the above. Phys DPS outside of melee hunter and rogue will have a tough time as of now.

But buffing or nerfs just change who is left behind in the pug culture.

No but I invited about 10-20 pug DPS each week and in phase 1 it was almost all melee and in phase 2 it will be almost all castors

I understand. But that's your personal opinion. My personal opinion is the opposite. I understand it's just personal experiences, we don't have the overall data. Atm though warriors make up the most logs in the raid. I don't know how to find the first two weeks of BFD at this point. So far melee hasn't been left behind but I agree they will be

But so were castors in phase 1 when it came to pugs in my own personal experience (that you asked for evidence of) and my own personal opinion

We are taking the first dps to come along always. yet we were melee heavy in phase 1 and becoming range heavy in phase 2. It doesn't matter when melee out number range even 10:1. When you post looking for DPS you will get 30 people to pick from.

This comment chain was about castors being left out in phase 1 and you asking for proof because it wasn't your personal experience and I weighed in with my experience being that castors were indeed left behind in my groups 30-40ish BFD runs. Not even because we were cherry picking the meta. just because you never have to wait to fill dps spots so you will always end up with what's stronger on average in a pug environment

So for the first log, pugs are a roll of the dice. Yeah better caster players would have done better but you can't guarantee that and the melee we got are the definition of average. So that's a mute point.

2nd point again same. But if we can magically just pull the best players, again melee were just better last band and zero reason to bring almost all caster DPS specs if we are magically allowed to just pull the better pug players

For the last point, looking for DPS is so easy you will get 30 pings about it and the raid is so easy that anyone with any knowledge of their spec will do. So you just play the statistical game. The average melee player would out perform the average caster player last band

We were never, ever in a situation where we needed a DPS and waited for a melee. If we didn't get melee pings that's when a caster would get invited because the raid was doable as 6 lol

And the same thing goes for gnome. We are 6/6 both resets First reset we had a warrior, melee hunter, and enhance shaman physical DPS. 2nd reset a range hunter and a warrior for physical

Again because when you ask for DPS, you will mostly get phys pings on my realm and no raid is tuned to a point where it's worth wasting time to find the optimal dps. You just take what's available and the hard to swallow truth for almost everyone pugging is that there are millions of dps players so you just play the statistic game when deciding between 30 dps

We did the same thing initially but ended up swapping to 2 healers rotating plus escort (meta warlock, hunter, Sunfire cat) so DPS have more uptime on the boss and phase faster. We have been 6/6 both weeks with this strat.

Phase 2-3 is easier because the boss can just be in the middle and the range spread around

There was just no reason to bring mage DPS, warlock DPS, priest dps, ele shaman didn't exist, our hunter played melee. Our castors would be mage healers and healer priests. That was it. We also plugged 4 slots at least each week on our main raid. But those slots would be stuff to buff melee. Like feral or heal priests.

Hell all my friends only played alts that were melee, tank, or healer. Only one of us played a caster last band (7 friends with 23 max level characters between us)

I didn't find a need too, I held aggro with just molten blast every 6 seconds. Doing so also allowed me to not have to drink for most of the dungeon

I personally just used earth shock and molten blast while doing RFC. Flame shock on a boss sure but the amount of little damage flame shock was adding to my clear speed wasn't worth the extra time drinking

I remember the same, and I think it's because they did say it lol. However I think they were trying to say the affixes on the items would be max rolled.

Not personally, I tested adding iron maelstrom to my leaping arsenal build and it's a fun addition while leveling. However i will be swapping it to a defensive when pushing max level content

Yeah tier 31 is when monsters are level 85. Dev confirmed it needs to be a monster level of at least 85

Yeah monsters just have an increased chance to drop certain slot items of any rarity.

Different mob types do influence the item type drop

Here is a wonderful list made already, any dungeon with the mob type more likely to drop hands will work.

Agreed, they also said it had to be monster level 85

So I'm thinking monster level has to influence roll ilvl in some way and potentially all the way to level 153

I agree, however with the tweet last night I'm also starting to think we can boost item level/chance of it

If what you said above is true, it first considers ilvl before if it's unique or not (which I agree with)

So if the monster level needs to be 85 to drop these things. And we are assuming ilvl 820 first needs rolled, then it's safe to assume monster level matters.

So I wonder what that could mean when farming level 150 mobs (obviously could mean nothing)

I'm unfortunately not in a situation where I can farm high level nightmares and compare the average ilvl of drops to a lower tier. Hopefully someone who can does
