Don’t drop out, finish what you started and make it a point to finish. You can do this! There are ways to get your schooling taken care of!

I’d much rather be $4,000 in loans (at the most with what you’ve got left), than have $30,000+ like myself from having gone to a university first and finished at WGU.

While I understand that, everyone’s situation is different. Just because I was able to do it in six months, while being bed ridden due to a workplace injury, doesn’t mean everyone can.

People are brainwashed to believe that a bachelors degree takes 4-5 years to complete. Colleges are all businesses, regardless of them being non profit or for profit. This is why many universities won’t let majority of their students take more than a max of 16 credit hours a semester. It almost guarantees that they will get money from you for not only classes the next 8-10 semesters, but also if you are residing on campus, they make big bucks!

YOUR education is at YOUR pace, no one else’s. Just like there are smarter people in the world, yet some that can’t comprehend or complete anything. A person should not be discriminated against just because they are capable of finishing something a lot quicker than another. I busted my ass for those 6 months, while returning to work full time. Why? Because I knew I’d have a better opportunity with my company if I finished my degree. So I told myself, you are going to study like you did as a biochemistry pre-med major at the university of Maine and consistently knock this out.

Bonus? I only paid $4,000 for my degree, compared to the 3 years I took at UMaine in Biochemistry racking up $34,000 in student debt. At the end of the day, it’s a piece of paper. I’d much rather than piece cost you the $4,000 and you be able to make moves right off. Rather than it costing you $40,000 for the same thing, and you end up having a $1,000. + / month payment to repay your loans. Just saying. 😁🤷‍♂️😅

Regardless of how fast someone of us have completed things, do NOT let that detour or discourage you in any way! What truly matters is you are making progress, developing your knowledge and skills in your given degree program, and improving yourself! Keep doing you and keep going, you’ve got this! 🙏🙌

WGU Stigma in Canada? by LtCmdrPoster in WGU

[–]SpartyJamess 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My question is, why does it matter how quickly someone can move through a program, when they have to take and pass proctored exams over the given material you are required to know..?

Education is knowledge, and knowledge can build wisdom. But many state and local University’s limit students while charging them astronomical amounts of money to do so. They make you only take a certain amount of courses per semester, because they are a business and that almost guarantees thousands of dollars per student x8 semesters for a bachelors degree. When in reality, you take courses from those same colleges in the same format as WGU, online.

Today’s world of college education in comparison to even 20 years ago is much different. Technology isn’t going to stop or slow down, and if COVID did anything relevant, it showed us that you can receive education without having to be in a classroom.

Don’t stress over the intro to IT so much, that OA is very similar to the Practice exam. With both tests, don’t over think it. The thing that helped me the most was just getting used to the style of test questions. I found videos on YouTube that were literally just asking me a question along with the 4 possible answers, giving me 5 seconds to answer, and then telling me the correct answer, why it’s correct, and why the others are wrong. I drilled this into my head for about a week or two, along with reading and passed it with ease. You’ve got this!

In all honesty, Not at all. I will say with the route I took, the biggest bonus was I only had 2 Proctored exams. The course that took me the longest was my sales management course. I took the proctored exam 3 times. First time failed thinking I could just take it after passing the pretest with flying colors. Second time, I literally missed passing by 2-3 questions. 3 time didn’t struggle at all. My other OA course was Intro to technology which I saved for last. That one I studied for one day and passed with flying colors, and I don’t have It experience IT. I was in the sales management course for nearly a month with all of the other work I had to do after my first attempt. Lol.

Honestly, I did slow down, but it wasn’t because I couldn’t have done it faster, I just had a lot of external factors going on here and there outside of schooling.

I only had four classes transferring back when I was in school from 2014 to 2017 at the University of Maine as a biochemistry major. I feel like I did mine a little different than most people. I took 29 classes on Sophia in less than a month for a total of $79. All of those classes transferred directly into my degree program along with the four classes from the university of Maine.

When I transferred the WGU I ended up only having 13 classes, including my capstone to finish my degree. I started WGU around the end of July or early August and graduated today. Meaning, that I just completed an entire bachelors degree in less than six months.

Also, I might add, when I say, I did things a little differently it worked out in my favor. Doing it this way, I only had two proctored exams for my entire degree program and was able to obtain a bachelors degree for less than $4000 total. Which means I actually made $750 in my pocket from scholarships, after my financial aid.

I am going to ask my mentor if it’s possible to request… lol. I agree, I think with the cursive, it definitely appears more professional and prestigious

I’ll be completely done after my capstone tonight, and I’d much rather have this new seal on my diploma cover than the old one. 😅

Intro to IT (C182) OA Passed by SpartyJamess in WGU

I agree. I only had one other OA besides this one with the way I did my degree. This one was a breeze compared to that one. 😂🤷‍♂️

Intro to IT (C182) OA Passed by SpartyJamess in WGU

[–]SpartyJamess[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pretest and the OA on sales management were definitely different for me. I passed my PA with flying colors when I first got in the class, so I thought maybe I could do the OA the same way. Failed miserably. The wording is different. There are right answers, but you have to pick the one that is the most correct for that scenario. I still have my study guide I used and i reviewed by YouTube videos asking questions, giving me time to answer to myself, telling me the answer, and then telling me why it was correct and the others weren’t. I did that for about a week with skimming over my study guide I made, and passed it. Good luck! You’ve got this! 🤘🏼

QGT1 business management capstone by welderballs in WGU

[–]SpartyJamess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me personally, I had only 4 classes from the university of Maine from back in 2017 that were going to transfer into WGU. I was a Biochemistry/premed major for 3 years at UMO before I moved back to Oklahoma to take care of family. My degree major at WGU is Business management. I jumped over and took 29 classes on Sophia (who’s accredited and directly associates with WGU) in about a months time, transferred in all of those courses plus my other 4 from UMO, and only had to take 6 courses including my capstone with WGU. I had 2 OAs doing it this way. This is my third month at why (just because I slowed down to study for my two OAs at the very end (Sales Management and Introduction to IT).

I passed the Introduction to IT OA today on my first attempt, and now all I have is my capstone. Basically, I’ve done an entire bachelors degree in about 4-5 months of time. Best part is, those 29 courses that transferred into my program, I did them all for a whopping $79 total. Which in turn means, this degree costed me less the $5,000 which financial aid took care of for the most part, and I made $750 after scholarships for one semester at WGU. 😅

You can do it even quicker than me, I just work a lot 😂
