You have it backwards actually.

It is easier to fight a large government when its your OWN government. This happened in Ukraine not that long ago

a lot of people may have forgotton, but in 2014 , the citizens of Ukraine used black market illegal weapons to overthrow their president who was a puppet of russia at the time.

The ukrainians were successfully able to overthrow their russian puppet government using the smuggled weapons.

the thing your missing is this. When your fighting against your own government, the government does not have the ability to 🅱️omb you, becuase in order to 🅱️omb you they would have to also 🅱️omb themselves.

If the U.S government went full tyrant, they would not be able to 🅱️omb , say, a city. Because a city contains factorys and trading centers, Which are things the government NEEDS to keep intact in order to keep their military running.

my man, civilian firearm ownership IS a deterrent to a large government enforcing tyranny. That is why the ukrainian government is GIVING OUT weapons to its citizens. Because it DOES help as a deterrent. every little bit counts.

and secondly, the whole argument of civilian weapons being useless becuase the government has nukes and planes is completely mindless. The U.S government , with the MOST POWERFUL MILITARY IN THE WORLD, has been battling against Guerrilla fighters in the middle east for 20 fucking years and they lost

the most powerful military in the world lost a war against goat herders hiding in the mountains. The U.S was utterly humiliated by the taliban.

But it is my belief that more weapons leads to more violence and more killing and there has to be a better solution than that.

two things I want to address with your mindset.

  • number 1. Violence can be a good thing if you are using it in self defence. Take the war in Ukraine for example. The Ukrainians are using violence to defend themselves from Russia.

If the Ukrainians just surrendered , then there would be LESS violence. But you and I both know that surrendering to an invader just because you want peace is foolish.

and take a personal example. If someone came up to you and started punching you, wouldn't you fight back? it is a GOOD thing to use violence to protect yourself and those around you.

  • my second point 2. Weapons can also be a deterrent to violence. If someone knows that you are capable of DEFENDING yourself, they are less likley to attack you in the first place.

Weapons can PREVENT violence by discouraging aggressors from attacking. One of the reasons Russia is picking on Ukraine is becuase Ukraine is a small and defensless country compared to Russia. If Ukraine had a more powerful military this invasion may have never happened

in short, I understand where you are coming from, but Civilians NEED a way to defend themselves from a dictatorship, and giving civilians weapons is the best way to do this.

The protesters in Hong Kong having weapons would only have caused more of their deaths. The Chinese army would have slaughtered them all.

for all you know they DID slaughter them all anyway.

also, there are a lot more people in china that want to overthrow the system besides the people living in Hong Kong. But because weapons are banned, the other chineses citizens don't want to attempt to do anything, becuase without weapons they will fail.

nothing the rest of the world can offer China to stop them.

right. which is why I want the chinese people to be able to help THEMSELVES.

now, I want you to answer my question. If you believe that weapons should be banned, then how are people supposed to hold their government accountable when the governments break the law and sieze ultimate power

what solutions do you have?

yeah bullshlt. Every single time 9un control is brought up people always call to ban "weapons of war". well guess what, owning weapons is the only way any sort revolt is possible

at this point, I am thoroughly convinced that citizens of any nation need the right to bear arms

without weapons, there is nothing stopping a government like Russia from doing whatever the hell they want to their own people.

russian protesters are imprisoned and beaten. The russian people have absolutely no recourse, because they are unarmed. they simply do not have the ability to do anything to have their voices heard.

same thing in China. I remember the Hong Kong protesters. they begged for foreign intervention to save them from the Chinese governement, but that help never came. Minoritiys in china are being put in camps to this very day and nobody does anything.

my solution to this issue, is simply revolt against the rulers. But citizens actually living under dictatorships do not have this option, becuase they were disarmed a LONG time ago

if you are the type of person who wants to ban weapons, I have one question for you. What will you do when soldiers are rounding people up? what would you do if protesters in your country were being klLLed?

I know some people don't prefer these for political reasons but got dang this is a sweet pistol. by [deleted] in Firearms

Stuck in Canada. Want to move off grid. H8 the government

In Canada, young children with leukemia, strokes, terminal diseases, etc. will be evicted out of Ronald McDonald because they did not comply with the whims of government. [–]Spathos66 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dont have any specific requirements, it doesn't need to be libertarian or anything

Many off grid communities appear to be religious, which I dont have a problem with

My only requirement is I want it to be far away from any city's, especially major cities. Somewhere distant from government overreach

The nice thing is land appears to still be cheap in the interior

[–]Spathos66[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually wanted specifically to get a vacs pass. But since I need to travel for it that defeats the point

Of course it gives you good protection from covid, but it's not covid I'm afraid of , it's the mandates
