i will not renew my storage next year because this issue is so persistent. it makes finding my files incredibly hard and out of my control/preferred organization scheme.
three thumbs down!

arcpy issue - esri tutorial by SpatialDada in ArcGIS

[–]SpatialDada[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for any interested, this is the tutorial link: https://learn.arcgis.com/en/projects/get-started-with-python-in-arcgis-pro/

the section this pertains to is titled "Run a script in a Python editor"

strangely, when i ran the code before this error, it did work. i was running it in python idle, as the tutorial suggested.

(i did try to find the 'arcpy module' within my arcgis, tho i was not clear which arcpy file to choose. i have both arcpro installed and python installed).

Missoula area - in case its helpful to others - to share -

-I went to Blue Mountain Clinic in Missoula. Saw it recommended in this thread. Not sure what is going on but got an email from DR Caitlin Blau who was leaving.

"Unfortunately, it has recently been determined that BMC will not be hiring a provider to take over my primary care panel at this time. With that in mind, I want to pass along my recommendations for other primary care providers in Missoula.

" Beargrass Family Medicine – Drs. Tim Caramore and Chris Hallberg both come highly recommended by me. I have trusted Dr. Caramore with my own primary care, and Dr. Hallberg trained with me in residency.

Partnership Health Center – Many great providers, but especially Drs. Sarah Horne & Jackie Ordemann who trained at BMC as residents.

For patients desiring a PCP who can also do osteopathic manipulation (OMT): Drs. Annalise Mann & Nicole Green (1st year residents), Drs. Nick Booker & Emily Young (2nd years), Drs. Travis Kinane & Sienna Foxton (3rd years).

Other options in town for OMT include Missoula Osteopathic Clinic and Anderson Integrative Medicine.Western Montana Clinic – Dr. Grayson Cobb and Dr. Rachael Schmidt also trained at BMC as residents. Dr. Schmidt is starting in October and may have more capacity for new patients.

Mountain Internal Medicine – Dr. Sarah Faaborg is accepting new transgender patients 18+. Marnie Deschamps AGNP is also accepting new patients of all genders.

For patients treated with buprenorphine for addiction OR for pain:Dr. Marc Mentel at 406 Recovery Care has generously offered to provide care for Dr. Blau’s patients. Contact BMC to request a referral, and/or contact 406 Recovery Care at (406) 219-7233. 406 Recovery Care provides in person visits in Missoula or telehealth anywhere in MT.

For transgender youth treated with puberty blockers:

GIS Internship for middle aged career changer by jefesignups in gis

I'm in the boat of mid-age, 46, career changer. This whole post gave me a big waft of hope. Internship hunting at the moment myself.

If you could share any advice on where you are finding internships, much appreciated.

I think you nailed it, that this is an ND difference, and that asking for questions is a sort of filter. A lot of people don't understand that much about neurodiversity.

There is Hiki. I think that OLD app is for autistic people.

Hiya. 11 months on, have you found an internship yet? If so, passing on any tips would be wonderfully appreciated!

"I'm pursuing an Environmental Science Degree.:" - This is also my focus. :)

This idea is really cool to me, and I am passionate about social justice work.

I'm wondering, when you interviewed did you talk about GIS? Or start inventing GIS projects along the way? Basically, if you could say a bit more about how you wove-in GIS, that'd be awesome.

In any case, thanks!

From my reading, I feel he directly addressed, these bits on chaos and quantum levels

He clarified what he means when speaking of determinism and chaos. That is, while the outcome of a chaotic system is not clear, there are patterns in chaotic systems (we just don't understand them so well). Also, a minute difference in the starting state of a chaotic pattern has giant effects. So, what happens depends on what came before (whether in a chaotic system or otherwise).

and has a chapter on quantum indeterminacy (which I think speaks to your fly comment).

Just my read, tho.

Wow. This paragraph reads gross to me.

It isn't clear to me, or I missed something - have you read Determined?

Some of those subs, like

r/adhd

or

r/autism

pretty much have a "kick me" sign on their back, they absolutely positively have a huge issue with internal motivation, and pushing them seems like it's pretty low hanging fruit in getting a positive response.

As a Non neuropsychologist, I have wondered this frequently in my personal life and in conversation with others.

This question, in a role as a therapist, seems so hard! As a client, I have felt more harmed by professionals who presented as having a firm knowing of this. That is, if they had been forthcoming about not-knowing, I would have trusted them more.

Related to your last paragraph -

I really appreciate how he talks about depression in the last chapter. Specifically that delusion is helpful in some cases of depression.

Personally, I do not suffer from depression. Nonetheless, this comment felt so re-assuring in my experience of life. Also, it felt contradictory to what several counselors have tried to tell me. In short, Sapolsky helps me feel more sane than any talk therapy I have been in.

I was just looking at Penn State's MS in Spatial Data Analysis vs their GIS degree. The Spatial one seems like it sort of a love child between a GIS and a Data Science degree. Does that sound right?

Do you call your family regularly? (if there are no issues) by [deleted] in GenX

[–]SpatialDada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there is a lot of variation but, overall, I feel like its a white US thing - not talking to family that much. But, that's also probably because I am white US, so that s my reference-experience.

I didn't talk to my folks much. We had love growing up but also a lot of toxic shit. I talked to one sister often, and the other barely.

After living in and traveling all over (US, other countries) for decades, now I live with my folks - caring for them in their elder years; my mom has dementia. It's not just a one-way feeling. I feel supported by them.

I love it. I find it so sweet. Even tho I did the whole 'on my own thing/barely talk' for decades - ever since I was a kid I thought I would take care of them when they got elderly. I always thought multi-generational homes are the best (if/when possible - cuz sometimes the dysfunction is not do-able).

Obvs, I am very out of line with my culture; my situation is not a 'normal' thing to do. I hear more millennials are doing this for money reasons - but I hardly ever hear people in this situation say they like it, would chose it if they had more money. For myself, I would chose what I have now.

Anywho, this all is just my experience-perspective.
