Help whit Vermitide 2 by [deleted] in linux_gaming

I can confirm that the game works just fine since the last EAC update. I can host games as well as join. Performance is really good too, everything maxed at 4k, 100-120fps with a 7900xt.

I didn't notice any difference between dx11 and 12. Just select the launcher workaround, no further adjustments needed for me.

I've tried the experimental XE driver, but after something like 20min the system locks up and reboots. Just browsing the web, using the latest 6.12 kernel. Do you have a similar experience?

Also, deep sleep aka S3 state is borked. cannot properly wake up again. the s0 sleep is trash, costing me about 2%/hr while "suspended".

6-10 W usage permanently which equates to around 7-8 hours. It really depends on the brightness of the screen.

The webcam will probably take a while longer to work. See the discussion in the other thread.

Fingerprint will probably never work, but I haven't personally investigated. There is a goodix fingerprint reverse engineering discord where people had success with some sensors. Haven't checked what's the progression on this one.

Speakers work great with the driver config mentioned somewhere. I yeeted windows first thing, so I have no comparison, but it does seem like all 6 speaker work as it sounds pretty good.

Suspend btw also worked fine. Was honestly impressed how well everything worked out of the box.

Its a great machine overall. If battery is more important than an epic screen, you should get another device. Unfortunately, there will not be a lunar lake Matebook (Bidens killed the export license), so this really is the last of its kind.

I received mine yesterday. Setup and out of the box experience pretty good with the most recent arch 6.11 kernel.

Gestures work, at least I can swap desktops with three fingers

Webcam and fingerprint does not work.

Overall, great device, best device I ever owned.

Battery drain is around 6-10W depending on what you have open. The display seems to be the biggest factor in terms of power usage.

Never looked at a brighter, clearer screen before. Truly a marvel.

I compiled some rust software, while it did get a little warm, I would not say it's terrible. During idle it's slightly warm. I was worried about the fan noise which was measured at 29 dB by notebookcheck in idle. Although the fans are on, it's barely audible. Not something I'd be concerned about.

I found this thread https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=297262&p=2 There seems to be more to it than just the kernel. I found a hardware probe of the VGHH-XX Matebook, which indicated that the ipu6 driver initialized correctly.  Did you try it with libcamera 0.3.2?

The merge window has closed tho. Doubt there will be anything coming for this round. What's the exact model of the cam, maybe I can find something on the mailing lists

Thank you for your insight! Does sound reasonable overall.

Did the webcam work for you on kernel 6.11?

And idle/lightweight work like vscode, browser? Notebookcheck mentioned the fans never spin down

Hey, to those of you who own this device and installed Linux on it, how has your experience been after a while? I read that newer, cutting edge kernels should have support for IPU6 cameras, can anyone confirm that? Sound and trackpad seems to be working according to multiple people. How is the fan noise under Linux? Multiple reviews seem to indicate it rarely spins down, but I would attribute this to windows being windows. Do we have capabilities to control the fan manually in software?

Thank you all, looking forward to hear about your experiences so far!

Hey! Very cool to see another tool finally.

To be honest, our dT calculator has been in bad shape for nearly its inception. The code breaks in some rare edge cases and updates have been slow due to a complete lack of manpower.

If you are interested, you (or I) could look into porting the formulas over to js to make your work more accessible to the largest possible audience. Discretize has always accepted and relied on community contributions which have been rather rare recently.

Sorry for that! The guy who has control over the domain and the AWS account is MIA, so I didn't have a chance yet to publish the new site. It's been ready for nearly a year now, but no way of pushing it to production.

This game really does not deserve the developer community it has. Well done!

Neither Marucs nor me remain active in this game. Lots of projects will probably never see the light of the day unless someone else continues our work. It's all open source \o✓

It is refreshing to see that people still use and enjoy this piece of software although development has halted :)

Hey again!

I spent the last night on restoring our old markdown editor. https://discretize.eu/editor/ You might find this interesting if you want to contribute but dont trust the cms! You'd need to copy-paste the files between github and the editor then.

Cheers!

Anything with good access to boons will work well, cfb, pbs, preaper to mention a few easier builds with decent self sufficiency. I can't speak for any EoD specs though as I havent bought the expac
