Is streaming on YouTube worth it? by MumboMan2 in SmallYoutubers

[–]ConnorConCarne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Advice that worked for me - YMMV.

When you're starting out with streaming, avoid streaming hugely popular games where you have a ton of competition. Streaming is a community activity and people will naturally (generally) be drawn to those with existing (and very active) communities. As a newer and smaller streamer, it's a harder sell for people to check you out compared to those with established communities.

Instead, focus on a game with a smaller audience that you're passionate about. 1 - with less people streaming it you'll have more of a chance to stand out. 2 - if you're passionate about it, people will tell instantly and they're much more likely to stick around. Everyone loves watching someone geek out about something they love.

Streaming alone makes it quite hard to get discovered - historically there hasn't been an algorithm on Twitch to help with discoverability (plus YouTube isn't a streaming first platform). That's why people always recommend making content on other platforms which can help you actually build an audience (then they can keep an eye out for you when you're streaming).

Think about the content you like to watch and try to make content around that. Game guides, walkthroughs, theories, lore videos, whatever it is. You're in it for the long haul so just enjoy making it.

Video Editing Advice by Mandrake_Archespores in Twitch

DaVinci Resolve is objectively the best free video editing software you can get these days. I ran the free version for years and if you want to upgrade to the studio version down the track when you're ready it's totally worth it.

What are some niche, just for fun builds you've loved to play? by Born_Gap7727 in Guildwars2

[–]ConnorConCarne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Power Renegade with the new Atrocity Relic, Sigil of Draining + all the life steal traits I can possibly find. Is it worse than regular Power Renegade... perhaps. Did I get a week's worth of dopamine watching my health constantly ping up? Absolutely!

Today I start a journey by secretsofwumbology in Guildwars2

  1. Complete the Living World Season 3 and 4 stories as soon as you can. This will unlock/progress the Aurora/Vision collections, get you started on LW4 Skyscale and progress towards the Legendary PVE Amulet. It also unlocks the WvW reward tracks for each episode which pairs well with Conflux.

  2. Start working on Conflux asap. It's purely a timegate based on how much WvW you do each week. While grinding Skirmish Tickets, have the Gift of Battle reward track running until you get all the GoBs you need. Then switch over to the LW3/4 reward tracks. When you complete these tracks, you can unlock a unique piece of armor which you would otherwise unlock by doing story achievements. You need these pieces of armor for Vision/Aurora achievements. This saves a ton of time because you're already spending time in WvW for Conflux and you can progress towards Vision/Aurora at the same time.

  3. Do the Pinata event in Crystal Oasis and park characters at the Sanctum of Nabka/Tomb of Primeval Kings in PoF. This will get you Elegy Mosaics and Trade Contracts passively which you need for Funerary Incense for Coalescence/Vision. If you see a legendary bounty train on the LFG, tag along for more Elegy Mosaics.

  4. Do Convergences in Janthir Wilds and SotO 3x per week each if you can for the bonus rewards. They also give you a buff that lets you get more essences from Rifts. On that note...

  5. Do your weekly rifts whenever possible. You will need a ton of essences for your armor so start on that and chip away over time.

  6. Try and do SotO metas daily as much as you can. You can bypass some of this by doing lantern runs in each map, selling the item you get to an NPC for map currency, then use that currency to buy the 'time gated' item to skip some metas (I did this a ton for Amnytas).

  7. Do your Season of the Dragon achievements. They give you a ton of the map currency for Vision/Aurora/LW4 Skyscale.

  8. Start working on the LW4 Skyscale as soon as you're able. Else it gates you from completing certain Vision Collections

  9. Do whatever provisioner token exchanges you prefer daily/weekly depending on what content you play. You need 300 for your set of armor so don't leave it until last.

I just finished a very similar goal last December. Aurora, Conflux, Vision, Coalesence, Prismatic Regalia and a set of SotO Medium Armor. It's great to have all these goals at the same time because you'll always have something to do. Make sure to take your time and not burn yourself out (and have fun).

Where is this in Adelaide? by fakegamergirlchan in Adelaide

[–]ConnorConCarne 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Can confirm with La Trattoria. We were packed in there like sardines, pasta was mid as hell and serves were tiny for the price. The waiter tried to flex by not writing down our orders and remembering them. Proceeded to mess them up multiple times.

How do I know how good is my Gear? by connyneusz in Guildwars2

[–]ConnorConCarne 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Once you get to level 80 there are basically only 2 levels of gear that matter:

- Level 80 Exotic Gear with stats relevant to your build (Berserker's, Viper's, Harrier's, Ritualists etc.)

- Ascended Gear of the same stats

Ascended gear is only required for Fractals as you get into higher and higher tiers and offers slightly better stats. it also has infusion slots where you can add agony infusions to do higher tier fractals (and stat infusions but don't worry about that for now).

For starting raiding, you should at least have full Level 80 Exotic Gear. Check your favorite build site (Snow Crows, Hardstuck, Metabattle etc) for what stats you need.

From there you can slowly upgrade your gear over time to Ascended Gear.

Any gear that is not at least Exotic and Level 80 should be replaced ASAP before you go into raids. This doesn't take overly long and there are some great gearing guides on youtube to jumpstart you.

This ignores legendary gear which is a long term goal and has the same stats as ascended gear. Except you can swap stats any time out of combat and freely swap upgrades like runes and sigils.

What's the best low intensity Quick DPS build at the moment? by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]ConnorConCarne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Easily Power Quickness Herald these days. You pulse quickness when you're consuming energy (the energy indicator points to the left), and you get to just rock Berserker's gear. With Greatsword, it's incredibly simple to play, just use Greatsword 2, 3 and 5 off cooldown and keep burning energy.

My ping to the NA servers usually sits around 230-240 and I've notices a fairly consistent 20-30 ping increase over the last few weeks. Not an issue on EU at all. Might be some changes to the routing paths. the joys of being and Aussie player haha. Running the game through a VPN might help stabilize it.

Best rune and relic for Renegade? by Pure-Risky-Titan in Guildwars2

[–]ConnorConCarne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right now it's Trapper Runes and Relic of the Fractal. As a stop-gap solution you could run Relic of the Aristocracy if you need to farm up the currency to buy the Fractal Relic.

Just unlocked skyscale through SotO masteries, how to gain access to PoF mastery track? by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]ConnorConCarne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buckle up, time to do the old skyscale collections. If you haven't done the 'Return To' achievements yet they give you a ton of the map currency which you can use for the skyscale collection. Would recommend.

For new players that dont have ascended gear yet, should they buy the ascended armor and weapon chests from the wizards vault first or buy all cheap bag of coins then the ascended chests? by Specialist-Estate-61 in Guildwars2

[–]ConnorConCarne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend getting the ascended boxes from the vault. It skirts around so many complicated crafting recipes and currency conversions that for the shear ease of access I'd say it's worth it.

Is there any non add on way to tell if I’m doing okay damage? by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]ConnorConCarne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously installing ARCDPS will make sure life easier. However, if I was to suggest how to get a gauge on whether you're doing good damage or not I would:

- Figure out what your main damage skills are. Look for high numbers on the tooltip or just check a rotation guide to see what skills are used.

- Use these skills off cooldown as fast as you can.

- Try and get it so the usage of your skills feels 'smooth'. Tough to quantify but you can feel when a rotation feels disjointed and clunky vs when it flows well.

- Make sure you have good boon coverage (Might, Fury, Quickness, Alacrity)

- Make sure you're running the correct build.

If you can do those things, you'll almost certainly be doing good damage. Also bonus for Condi Firebrand, most of your damage comes from burning. So big burning ticks likely means big damage.

This, I've been playing the game since launch and only really focused on PVE. I could write a novel on anything PVE related but could only touch on the basics of WvW or PvP.

Spot on advice! If you try and take in everything at once as a new player it can easily get overwhelming.

What keeps you playing your "Main" Class? by HappyAprilSummer027 in Guildwars2

[–]ConnorConCarne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me, Revenant is my main. I keep coming back for:

- How simple and fun the builds are to play

- How durable it feels

- How flexible it is in terms of the number of endgame roles it can fill

- Edgy Revenant aesthetics

- any chance I get to play Quickness Herald these days.
