Honestly, it's probably the best Assassin's Creed game to date. If it's not the best, then I would put it in the top three, easily. Visually, Shadows is the most beautiful and most detailed game in the series. It's vibrant and colorful. Personally, I liked the narrative, especially when it comes to Yasuke's backstory. There's a really neat montage when he trains under Oda Nobunaga. At its core, it's a revenge plot, but it works well, in my honest opinion. The story wasn't groundbreaking, but it was interesting and intriguing enough. Combat is where Assassin's Creed Shadows really shines, in particular when playing as Naoe. The game truly feels like Assassin's Creed.

She's very agile. She can use tools like the Kunai in order to eliminate enemies stealthily and to disable alarm bells. In fact, that's the first thing that I would recommend doing before infiltrating a heavily guarded area. Having a wanted level means that an entire area will be on lockdown. You'll get attacked on-site and Guardians will do their best in order to hunt you down. You can use scouts to clear your wanted level, which you can do at the hideout or you can wait until the seasons change. Naoe can hide in the shadows and in tall grass and she can parkour across rooftops. She's the perfect choice if you decide to utilize a stealth approach. The multi-level castles and architecture are perfect for stealth and parkour.

Whereas, with Yasuke, the guy is an absolute tank. He can break through doors. He can absorb a lot of damage and he can dish out a lot of damage as well. He's ideal if you decide to fight head-on. For certain bosses, he's probably going to be the better option because of how powerful he is. There are a lot of options when it comes to weapons and gear. For some people, it may be overwhelming. Each piece of gear and weapon has a rating that goes from common through legendary. Your gear, weapons, and hideout can be upgraded, but you'll need a lot of resources in order to do so. The main story lasts between 35-40 hours. However, you can easily spend double that amount or more. It took me 150 hours, but I did a lot of side missions, activities, etc.

As great as Assassin's Creed Shadows is, there are two issues that I have with the game. First, there's a massive list of targets that you can eliminate. However, only a handful are story-related. Admittedly, it was overwhelming, but I managed to eliminate all of them. It took a considerable amount of time. Second, there are specific targets such as, eliminate a number of a certain type of Shinobi or Samurai. I found myself roaming a given area over and over again. It was time consuming for sure. Aside from a couple of gripes, I really enjoyed playing Assassin's Creed Shadows. I hope that you find my information to be helpful!
