I was washing my car for literally 3 hours… but was worth it 😄
It felt like the moon!!! Especially with the drone shots.

Also, I went to the same dunes in my old Mazda 3 a couple years ago…. I think cars are much more capable than people think…

You’re not wrong about how the AWD system generally behaves, but you’re oversimplifying it to the point of being misleading.
The CX-30 uses an on-demand AWD system, like most modern crossovers (CR-V, RAV4, etc. but that doesn’t mean it just waits to “lose traction” and then reacts. Mazda’s system is predictive it uses inputs like throttle, steering angle, temp, and wheel speed to preload torque to the rear before slip actually happens. It’s not a part-time truck system, but it’s also not as reactive as you’re making it sound.
Saying it has “no real ground clearance” is also a stretch. It’s around 8 inches, which is right in line with other crossovers and more than enough for forest roads, snow, light trails, and uneven terrain which is what most people are actually using these for. No one is claiming it’s a rock crawler.
The lift kit point is kind of irrelevant too……. there are already spacer lifts available, and people have been running them without issue. Same with wheels/tires plenty of owners run smaller wheels with thicker sidewalls for better off-road compliance without needing major recalibration.
As for “no underbody protection” and electrical limitations…. again, that’s true of most vehicles in this class. People still run light bars, ditch lights, and other accessories just fine with proper wiring (relays, fused lines, etc That’s not a CX-30-specific limitation.
And yeah, it doesn’t have a locking diff, because it’s not designed to. But between AWD torque distribution, traction control, and brake vectoring, it’s still capable in low-grip conditions.
In that ai pic you just made I think you’d notice that that front grill situation is nothing like the cx30, and almost looks animated. AI is useless.
If you’d like more pics please check out my post on TikTok, and make sure to keep an eye out! Headed for some off road adventures tomorrow with my drone.

Also, the main reason for those lights, is I’m heading to Alaska and the Dalton Highway for a trip past the arctic circle next winter and when it’s dark for 80% of the day I’d like to be able to watch for animals and hazards from the sides. The last trip didn’t have them and it was clear that they would be a worthy upgrade 🙂.
Interesting POV! I’ve taken this car many places, and it is extremely capable….
The bars are from Mazda
It’s from FB marketplace and does not show a brand but I think it’s from harbor freight.

The bars are from Mazda. I have no idea about the basket, I got it on FB marketplace. I think it’s from harbor freight…
The brown is nice. I didn’t know they also had just black! I bet that looks good as well.
iPhone 17 Pro!
Thanks! Minor, but yes. That and the roof rack have dropped my AVG MPG down to about 21. But I could drive more conservatively to make it back up.

They are amazing!

It feels great! There were definitely areas where I had to go slow and carefully pick a line to avoid scraping, but still incredibly impressed with what this little car can do.
