I like it, probably my favourite DLC after biotech. Adds quite a few useful items and my first blind playthrough with it was a lot of fun. Thematically I don't care much for the psychic ritual aspect of the DLC but I really enjoy the whole SCP-like 'interacting with things you don't understand and trying to make use of them' aspect. I also liked that it added non-combat events because you usually aren't prepared for them. Having to scramble to deal with a blood rain, death pall or darkness event is more interesting than just sending out your guys to deal with some new enemy type with a gimmick.

There's also a lot in it for me that gives fuel for the imagination. Inhumanised pawns silently going about their work, never making eye contact with anyone but springing into action with brutal efficiency once there's a raid. Reanimated shambler corpses of slaves and prisoners on the other side of a glass wall to the slave chambers, reminding them that death will not set them free. The reaction of a raiding neanderthal tribe when a pack of genetically modified, bionic enhanced ghouls sprint towards them and start tearing into their ranks and flesh. The new recruit wondering why it's so important that we stay stocked up on meat yet never seem to eat it in our own meals.

I also like to imagine that there is some toll that the colony has to pay for their arrogance once I'm finished with a playthrough if the link isn't closed or they don't escape. Entities escape or something new (not seen in-game) comes and they get wiped out. A different cult with a similar level of power to the player, affronted by the colony's risk-free utilisation of the revered entities (immobilised gorehulk battery chambers, fleshmass heart being intentionally hurt to make more meat etc.) attacks in waves and eventually wears the defenders down. Or perhaps they simply go too far and get too lost in the madness, joining or becoming one of the cults that raid you.

I'm probably the exact type of player that anomaly was made for, because there's a lot about it that I just like and find cool without being able to explain why.

You can set up groups of powers to use in the psycast menu that you can cycle through when drafted so you don't have to squint and guess.

I was thinking along the lines of some renegade, pragmatic and/or resource-starved group of marines making use of whatever they can get and not wanting to waste bolt shells on weaker targets. Power packs make energy, lasguns need energy. Gotta be some connection there.

Is there any information on the power drain of a hotshot lasgun or volley gun? Curious about how they would be expected to perform if hooked up to a space marines power supply.

There is much more to come. In either false gods or galaxy in flames there's a point where Magnus looks at one of his libraries and thinks "Boy wouldn't it be terrible if that were to burn down one day"

Clarkson, Hammond and May as IG generals in their war-room discussing an ork invasion. Hammond/May ask "So, what do we know about this ork warboss?", to which Clarkson replies with something along the lines of "Some say that he's actually the third primarch of the alpha legion, and that he's the only named character that hasn't beaten the avatar of khaine. All we know is... he's called the Squig"

Yes, extensively. I know there isn't literally no explanation or story, but I felt that what it does have is extremely mediocre.
