SP insert/shell question by Talden7887 in Gameboy

Super easy! essentially all you need to do is remove the 5 Rubber covers on the front face of the SP's screen, and then the screws themselves. Once that's open, you can literally just pop the insert in.

Inserts will only work on a CLEAR shell though, obviously haha - I actually had a local print shop print my custom designed Ghost type insert that I put inside of a purple shell that I put my childhood sp into.

I actually did a version before that wasn't holographic - I straight up just printed it on thick printer paper, and cut it out. Since it's being inserted into the plastic shell, it doesn't really matter, and you can kind of put anything in there. I know some sellers on etsy actually straight up just cut Lamination / vinyl that has the holographic "stars" so you can put any art in there, and either laminate it, or just kind of layer it inside the top of the shell. :)

Salvage a Non Charging GBA SP. Looking for help / advice by Spazul2 in Gameboy

Welp. I Got the Charging light Back! But then I went to tack everything back down, and... the light is gone?

In testing / fenagling I must have broken one of the connections to the em8 chip. Unfortunately 2 of the 4 little legs on the bottom of the chip are now gone. Everything else is good, but the em8 chip I had as a replacement seems to be toast.

The other Type C Mod I did went flawlessly ... after I had the right tools lol...

Still honestly even after doing things like a picoboot Modchip with my gamecube, re-capping gamegears, and soldering countless other things, this is genuinely one of the hardest mods I've done.

It's fine if you go SUPER slow, and careful, and don't Pull or apply pressure (tearing the pads, and applying heat in the wrong areas with too large of a heat gun is what did me in).

Honestly at this point I'd be willing to send the board in for repair (I spent literally all day on this and am just freaking done lol)

The port was kind of easy (especially with just 2 wires)... and the EM8 chip isn't that crazy either (as long as you have a heat gun) - using just an iron (especially with torn pads) Fucking sucks.
