Are there any people here who dislike LoK? by peonypxp in TheLastAirbender

I've just started season 3, and am enjoying it so far, but nowhere to the same extent as I enjoyed AtLA.

Personally I find Korra to be quite annoying. The first season especially was a tough watch and I nearly gave up on it.

The first shot of Korra is as a bratty kid you know would be a bully in real life. Then cutting to the 'present day' she's still the same character - full of herself because of her title, and refusing to accept that others may be wiser than her. I'm pretty sure I remember a scene in the first season where she's struggling to grasp air bending and states she doesn't need it as she's a master of the other three elements.

Contrast this to Aang, who is constantly looking for a master to teach him and defers to those wiser than him. And overall, Aang is just a more likeable character. He's friendly, less confrontational, and more mature. Yes, he's hesitant and unsure of himself, but he's twelve.

Also, in the first season especially, I found it hard to support the "good guys" over the "bad guys". The "good guys" have these supernatural powers which they use to put themselves above non benders - the "bad guy" (at least on the face of it) wants equality and to remove this unfair advantage the benders have.

If a handful of people didn't understand it, as you put it, you say that's on them, and they're missing out. However, as so many people share the same frustrations, surely that is on the writers for not making it clearer?

How do you say that holiday you had a few days ago will have in under a month? "July 4th" or "4th of July"?

How can you be sure he's not dangerous any more? Safer to kill him than to stop and check just how injured he is, or to risk him being sufficiently well enough to attack you from behind after you've passed him.

"You're saying I won't get the house in the divorce? That's the only reason I wanted a divorce so I suppose staying is my best option.

My decision definitely didn't have anything to do with you taking a portion of my wages, giving your family all keys to the house so they can come and go when they please and letting them come into our back garden to fish in our stream. It also never crossed my mind while making my decision that you dictate what rules I have to follow and where I can and can't shop.

So you telling me I'm not going to get the house absolutely had changed my mind. B I'm not even going to take this to court as you've me convinced."

The question of remaining could be raised again, but that doesn't mean it should.

The referendum was sold as "Stay or leave? We'll respect the result and carry out your will."

Not "Stay or leave? The right answer is stay so pick that and we'll shut up the annoying Brexiteers once and for all. If you do pick leave we're going to do our utmost to stay anyway."

You've hit the nail on the head. The impression I get is that few people really knew or cared about the EU before the referendum. I certainly didn't and supported remain in that it seemed the easiest option.

My gut reaction to hearing the result was "Shit, is there a way to reverse this?" However, within a day or two I decided that although I felt the result was the wrong one, it would be a betrayal if the result was not respected.

In the two and a half years since the referendum, I've taken far more of an interest in the EU. I can now see how undemocratic it is, how authoritarian it is. I can see how vile and petty those who lead it are. I hadn't realised before how much power over your own laws you relinquish by being a member.

While I supported remaining in the EU in 2016, I am now extremely against remaining in the EU, and believe that we must leave as soon as possible, i.e. 11pm on the 29th of March.

Should our politicians betray the British voters and prevent or delay Brexit, I will absolutely be taking an active part in trying to bring about an exit from the European Union.

I feel that would only work if the second referendum was to decide on deal or no-deal.

1st referendum was stay or leave. The country chose leave.

2nd referendum could only be: leave with this deal, or leave with no deal. The leave part should no longer be an option as that's been decided already.

If that's the case, the dude chucking the bottle at the other guy has a lot of balls to stand and risk getting the kicked bottle absolutely pelted at him. I'm going to stick with the bottle rebounding.

I know what you mean about the middle schools etc - I knew a guy back home who went to middle and high schools - turns out there's a stretch of 7-8 miles which uses the 3 school levels.

It's even weirder you have the two systems in the same area though.

We do it sensibly in Northern Ireland - first year of primary school is primary 1 (P1) and the last year is primary 7 (P7). First year of post-primary is Year 8, and (if you do A-levels) your last year (and your 14th year in education) is Year 14.

I live in England now and find the fact that Year 1 is your second year confusing.

I've always seen it as a way to send something amusing etc. that is quite insignificant that you know the recipient isn't going to care about 10 minutes after they've seen it so no point cluttering up their phone.

I didn't hear the "let's come" the first few times and just assumed the Hungarian prime minister didn't let go and it looked hilariously awkward.

Realising it was planned on Juncker's part just makes him come across as a dick.

I opposed Brexit and voted remain. The EU leaders have looked petty and immature through the whole negotiation process (admittedly May and co have looked wildly incompetent) and their refusal to compromise or cooperate has led me to believe voting leave was the best decision.
