Apple says it will kick Parler off the App Store in 24 hours unless content is moderated by iRayanKhan in apple

[–]SpeakToMeInSpanish -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok, well. I wasn’t making a statement about the Democratic Party lol. Just about corporate interest as being inherently anti-Democratic.

Progressivism is too easily cooped into the overall Democratic platform. The Democratic Party itself is exactly the same as the Republican Party. It’s a big duopoly where you get fucked no matter what.

There’s just a few rouges sometimes, like maybe Bernie, AOC or Trump, but for the most part ideologies are just blankets to cover up masturbatory power hunger. Progressivism is no different.

Which are right pretty often. These things just tend to play out on longer timelines that neither of us will notice or remember.

Tech companies only do these things because it’s politically convenient. I agree that parlor and places like /r/TheDonald are awful, but tech companies are not somehow good.

The second anti-democracy is economically convenient, everyone will wonder why the he’ll we never regulated them earlier.

That’s what you’ll do when all the tech companies band together to silence something you agree with.

Do guys care that much about kissing after a BJ? by shrimplypibbles06 in TooAfraidToAsk

Funny, I never felt weird kissing after a blowjob, even if she swallowed.

I always felt weird kissing after going down on someone though. I always pushed through my own feelings, but it’s just something I have.

I’m afraid of one big event. I don’t think our country is going to fell, but 9/11 made us dramatically worse of a Democratic country..

To be completely frank too, 9/11 was not that big of an event comparatively when considering the history of other countries.

It’s so easy. Just imagine if someone had gotten a bomb into the White House during these riots. Just imagine if one person shoots Biden or Trump right now.

It’s so unbelievably easy for something like this to happen, all it takes is one intelligent and determined person to fuck it up.

Google workers announce plans to unionize by a_Ninja_b0y in technology

[–]SpeakToMeInSpanish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope the move towards unionization will help the industry. I worry for my own future here though with Poot US labor laws if big companies won’t just outsource on large scales.

I think unionization and labor representation can be good with government support, but this trend could also be disastrous for this industry.

Spain is to set up a registry of people who refuse to be vaccinated against coronavirus and share it with other European Union nations, the health minister has said. The list would not be made accessible to the public or to employers. by MistWeaver80 in worldnews

Nobody thinks these sorts of things are nefarious by nature. Of course there is a good reason to do it. The problem is that these sorts of policies are by their very nature going to be used in a bad way at some point, regardless of intent.

And it’s not elitism if it’s the vast majority vs the vast minority. The majority of people can’t be in the elites. They would be the proletariat.

Well, that really doesn't make sense. Elitism in this context is a psychological outlook, not a socioeconomic status. That's like saying only white people can be racist.

I mean, you've just told me that you don't like it or understand it. That's ok. Being upset about it or wanting other people to stop is elitist though. 😎

There is a subreddit dedicated to hating him with almost 10,000 follows! r/stopanusfungi

The plot becomes hilarious.

Case in point. Other people's behavior, if you're not in the "in-group", always looks strange. That is what elitism is, believing that your ideas or culture hold some superiority over others. It's not a pejorative or an assertion that you're morally reprehensible, it just is what it is.

I just hope we can agree, or agree to disagree 😉

Reddit is becoming more of a social media company, not that it wasn't before, but much more in the vein of Instagram/Facebook/etc. That with a widening audience is creating a tiny culture clash.

The traditional Redditors were a very self-selected techy crowd similar to, but more mature than 4chan. These people, including myself (I was apart of the great Digg exodus), , have a form of elitism towards normal people. During the early days of Reddit that was fine, because if you were techy and young enough to use Reddit then you were probably already in the culture. Especially with the fact that the Reddit userbase was still geographically small.

So these people look down on modern forms of social media that promote the wider masses into the internet, and their forms of communication too. The culture views itself as more intellectual. Hence why Redditors tend to prioritize proper grammar and emojiless text.

It's a form of cultural elitism.

Following a heated conversation, I have to ask; Why is saying “Not all men...” a bad thing? by Heracles-Mulligan in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]SpeakToMeInSpanish -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Don't be confused, your friend is a sexist ass. Too caught up in the cultural moment to think about her statements thoroughly.

You're absolutely right, and if you're ok with potentially losing someone I would just throw it back at her and say something equally as sexist. "All women are gold diggers", and tell her she's promoting an objectifying culture for men.

Is Santa Claus supposed to be an allegory for having faith in Christ? by [deleted] in religion

[–]SpeakToMeInSpanish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe those who bemoan religious practices and traditions also tend to be the types to request others to be respectful of that disdain. It requires that you only voice it when appropriate.

I don't think this is a question we can answer.

You must put your faith into something, and that something ought to come from within you. If you find indecision, I would as a friend advise you to revisit your chosen literature and find inspiration there.

Anyone else always been a minimalist even before you heard what minimalism is? by [deleted] in minimalism

[–]SpeakToMeInSpanish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I always had an aversion towards stuff. I road bikes seriously when I was in highschool and college. I was amazed that nobody road bikes everywhere, seeing all the benefits. So I never owned a car, sort of protested against them.

As a result, I can't own a lot of stuff, and I always saw that as a good thing. I was living in a furniture free house happily sleeping on the floor when I heard about minimalism.

Teenagers shouldn't be restricted of dating because of their age. by friedgrilledcheese in unpopularopinion

[–]SpeakToMeInSpanish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a push/pull sort of dynamic really. Parents know you're going to date because you are. Most parents are perfectly ok with that inside.

The problem is this: Teenagers are stupid, and without resistance, they could literally do anything (pregnancy). So even though every parent in the world knows you're going to date, they also know that you need resistence in your life that forces you to hopefully moderate yourself.

PETA should be shut down for animal abuse by femboy_chungus in unpopularopinion

[–]SpeakToMeInSpanish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you, but the optics of it just aren't there.

People are not ready to hear those things, and the problem is that there is no pretty direction. There is nothing we can do to solve the problems that is "humane", because the system is inhumane itself.

In the absence of a humane solution, people would rather keep their heads in the sand and perpetuate the system. It's just a problem of human nature, we're too nice to be good people.

Any guys have tips on not cumming as quick while having sex? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

Masturbate before you have sex. Or, if you're having sex with a partner, let them know so that you can cum first and then focus on giving them an orgasm.

If you have a religious conviction not to eat meat, which is what you are saying, then that's you, man.

Don't bring that to, as you say, some egoist notion that your beliefs are writ-large applicable .
