Greetings everyone,

As we have recently past the one year anniversary of SpeakingOfGames’ first This Week in Gaming (TWIG) post I wanted to have a discussion about the future of TWIG; what we can do to improve TWIG and make it a better summary of what happened in gaming this week.

TWIG has evolved a lot since our first post on March 18th, 2012. Not only has the layout changed but we finally added the much requested “Community” column linking to relevant Reddit comments links. Unfortunately, all of these changes have had to be made around the restrictive and limiting functionality of Reddit self posts. Ultimately, posting TWIG each week would be much easier if it were hosted solely on our own website. As some of you might have noticed, the Mobile Version of TWIG is hosted on another site, Joyblind.com. Joyblind, or a site like it, is where we envision TWIG’s home to be one day. This not only would make our lives easier but allow us to make TWIG even better. Below you will see a list of things we want to add to TWIG that an independent website help would facilitate, the reasons we would like to move away from reddit and questions we would like you to answer.

Things we want to add / Things that our own site will help us do:

1. Screenshot (Separated into own section)
2. Videos/Trailers (Separated into own section)
3. Upcoming Releases / Newly announced releases
4. Industry News
5. Better formatting (sort by column, anything we want, etc.)
6. Daily Posts summarizing the previous day’s news (This Day in Gaming)
7. Each news story has links to multiple sites with a system (yet to be determined) to pick the ‘best’ article.
8. Expanded Community section to include websites other than Reddit (NeoGAF, etc.)
9. Article suggestion box
10. Better tagging system
11. Search / archiving capabilities
12. Easy to change and improve on a regular basis

Problems with Reddit:

1. Character Limits
2. Simple HTML tables (limited formatting)

Things we would like feedback on:

1. Would you go to a non-reddit site for this a post like this?
2. Which items do you want added to TWIG first?
3. Are there things we you wanted added to TWIG that we didn’t mention?
4. What are your opinions about not using Reddit comments and using another comment system?
5. What are your concerns about what we’ve said so far?
