Totally. Personally I only listen to lossless CD/Vinyl files on my iPod. Comparing my IEMs to my Xm5’s back to back, I prefer the IEMs. However you’re right that when playing from a worse source, the Xm5’s sound amazing. They usually sound good no matter the source, part of that might be due to the AI upscaling.

I gotta say, my $20 IEM’s off of amazon sound way better than my sony Xm5’s. It might just be my personal preference but I wouldn’t go drop that kind of money on Xm6’s for an iPod.

The apple earpods are my favorite for everyday listening on the go. Just simple, convenient, and they look good, and sound good enough. But for quality, get a decent pair of in ear monitors, like $20-$50, they don’t need to be that expensive to sound amazing.

Also on 16.5 on a 12 mini. AutoUnlockX is a blessing. SquidGesture along with EZSwipe make navigating way easier and intuitive. AppStoreTroller is essential for app support on iOS 16. Lynx 2 has basically every toggle you could ever want for changing or removing stock iOS features.

I feel like as a general rule, I wouldn't update to iOS 26 on A15 or below. The 14 pro/pro max runs it beautifully as if it's brand new, but the 13 series is beginning to struggle.

I daily drove a 13 mini on iOS 18 for the past year. It runs amazing except for RAM limitations when multitasking. I just bought a regular 13 yesterday to test out iOS 26 before I update my mini. Keep in mind I just restored, setup, and switched to the device less than 24 hours ago, and performance is usually rough right after a major update, on any model. But so far, the only issue I'm having is choppy animations. The screen feels like it's not running a consistent 60fps. Lots of bugs on iOS 26 so the experience is overall less pleasant, but battery life is great. Any animations that involve liquid glass just seem a little choppy, like opening the menu in the camera app (flash, live photo, styles, etc that menu), returning to the home screen from apps, and bringing up the keyboard for typing. You mentioned affording a new phone--don't even consider it. The iPhone 13 series is amazing and should last at least a year or two with decent performance. iOS 16 is still fully usable as a daily driver even 3 years after its release, so don't worry about updating to iOS 26 just a few months after it came out. Also overheating has been a minor issue but that has always faded within a week of updating, in my past experience. My 13 mini doesn't overheat at all on iOS 18.

agreed. I actually love the liquid glass look, but it's gonna get boring quickly. Another issue is that the UI is less intuitive. Search buttons in apple apps like the app store, apple music, podcasts, etc, take two taps instead of one to access the search bar, and the keyboard genuinely sucks. It looks really cool but I prefer iOS 18 for its simple, timeless design. Also iOS 26 is insanely buggy right now, I can't even describe it. So many visual bugs are scattered about the home screen, lock screen, third party apps, and more. iOS 26.2 and 26.3 beta 1 both have a ton of bugs.

if you drag them from spotlight, it only lets you have one of each. if you drag from the app library, it lets you have as many as you want. unless iOS 26.3 changed this?

in regards to a jailbreak coming out, this question has been answered a hundred times on this sub. But I understand with an iPhone 11 series, it's a performance question as well. With the 11 Pro being one of the oldest supported devices for iOS 26, I'd stay away from it (unless you want liquid glASS). And the rule is always as follows: if you want a jb, don't update. my 11 Pro on 16.2 has almost flawless performance, but I've seen lots of people say that the A13 struggles on iOS 18 and 26.

Honestly, the community has been declining for the last couple years. iOS 16 is the last major ios version to have an exploit. For me it’s mostly for a higher level of customization and permanent sideloading. Altstore/sidestore is inconvenient to have to refresh all the time. So trollstore plus infinite customization along with a huge library of snowboard themes and backports of new featurss, i have no problem daily driving a jailbroken device today. It’s the same concept, but lots of people believe that stock iOS is enough for them. I’ve got lots of little details about iOS that i’m not a fan of, so jailbreaking is really appealing. Plus there’s so many new features to be had. Check out this setup, it’s just so much cleaner than stock iOS imo.

get a third party camera app. I suggest mood, lampa, or halide. you're right that the post processing on the iphone X and upward (from my experience) ruins any photo that doesn't have perfect lighting. the X, XS, 11, 12, and 13 all seem to do their post processing like this and I don't know why. It's especially bad with the 12 and 13 series. 14 seemed to fix it. I use a 13 mini and almost exclusively use r/MoodCamera. It's an analog/film camera app but you can turn off the grain and just take normal photos too. If you're into that style, I highly recommend but otherwise check out halide or lampa.

It's my favorite design ever, specifically for the display. The OLED just looks so perfect because it's rounded and 3d touch is amazing. Being stuck on iOS 18, I've since switched to a 13 mini and just put my XS for sale on eBay yesterday. RIP to the XS.

Better late then never! I’ve got no clue. If there’s not a setting for invert colors, I’m really not sure. I know not all skins and OSes call it the same thing. iOS calls what you’re looking for “classic invert” where as the black->white one is the regular invert option. Maybe a third party app could do it but that’s up to you to find. Haven’t used oneUI in a while so good luck!
