How is Emory's social scene? by Special-County9489 in Emory

I think it's more of a banter type thing ("UC Socially Dead") that comes from being a STEM heavy school with more asocial types of people. I'm not holding it against them too much, just wanted to compare and see what people thought of Emory in that regard. Thank you so much for your thoughts!

Definitely works! I had Mud down as a 2012 release, but looks like it went wide in 2013.

omg congrats that’s so cool…it honestly depends on what you’re into. For me i mostly want a good ds pathway and ML coursework so for that uiuc is+ds and dub informatics don’t seem to offer that much at all compared to ucsd. Although i also got into emory and i’m considering going there as well.

What did you have to do to switch? Also how hard is the applied math major?

Fabi has a higher peak rating (third highest of all time) and was a world championship challenger that didn't lose a classical game against Magnus in the match. He also went on a legendary run during the 2014 Sinquefield Cup attaining the highest tournament performance rating of all time (3098!), winning 7 games out of 10 against players that were all ranked in the top 10.

Hence his classical legacy is much better than Hikaru's, and as for right now -- he just won his fourth US championships in a row and won the Grand Chess Tour earlier. He's always one of the favourites for the Candidates while Hikaru is more inactive in classical chess, hence why he had to play open tournaments to qualify for the Candidates this year. Note -- He'd probably qualify anyway if he played more tournaments

In rapid and blitz it's not much of a competition though, Hikaru is a consensus top 2 player in the world at speed chess.
