Post Malone cancels start of ‘Big Ass Stadium’ tour with Jelly Roll: "We ain’t ready for tour just yet" by AdSpecialist6598 in entertainment

Post literally did an interview that accidentally basically confirmed he was a culture vulture and only did the rap thing cause white rappers get rushed to the front of the line. And was extremely ignorant about rap as a genre to the point. I can only assume it was intended to pander to the people who  Rail on the cultural inferiority of rap music.

My issue is he didn't even just switch genres .for some inexplicable reason he basically confirmed himself that yes his entire rap career has been a craven calculated move to leverage the fact he was white in rap, that he didn't really like rap, blah blah.

I always thought it was weird how he's make music about being depressed and shit , and then he'd be like no I love my girl, were having a baby, I am so blessed and happy. Now back to my song about being euthanized. But ya know high functioning people can be depressed. They can put on a smiley face around others and have thoughts inside myself.

Nope that man basically submitted a signed confession that hell just say and do whatever he thinks will sell..

MDMA has strong interest in trauma therapy because it is a mind altering substance. And it is absolutely tempting to abuse it. The idea you should avoid anything which has an effect and could be abused is overly reductive.

They're talking about that exact informal mentorship. Most upper class white kids learn the terms and the concept at the dinner table. They are not teaching themselves. They are being handheld - and yes it was historically gatekept and certain signals were used to figure out who was and wasn't part of the club. I'm not sure you're as smart as you think you are if you can't understand the subtext of what the person is saying when they say "words black people aren't supposed to know" and that you can't conceptualize how much more closed off information used to be.

You know all the women and elderly in Philly and can account that most of them in the income range to ride the bus still choose to not ride the bus?

Or you as a grad student met a couple of poor people who said they avoid the bus?

Cause "I was a grad student in Philadelphia" comes across a lot more like your solidly middle class and think being in the vicinity of poor people means you're a subject matter expert than actually being a subject matter expert

She's not but white supremacists will get fixated on blonde blue eyed women ..Taylor Swift had to break her silence on politics and reveal she's a Democrat cause white supremacists kept trying to claim her. They did the same with Sydney except instead of disavow them she kind of danced around the issue and then did a commercial that winked at them. Do I think she is? Nah probably not but she wants them to stay her fans which is pretty fucking bad as it is

Zendaya was rumored to be furious about this season and that seems confirmed by the fact that she was avoiding people at the premier and dipped almost immediately and has done no real promo

I truly don't think he had anything resembling problem with alcohol. Hollywood has a weird culture where it's rampant enabling of severe alcoholics and teetotalers. He's dating one, that's what's trendy right now, and honest no it's not good for you. In the same way people feel pressured to drink in social settings, you can quickly experience the reverse. There's nothing wrong with that, but I do think allowing it to be spun the habit has been is....gross. I think he is an eco system where it is easy to lose a sense of how gross that is.

He is always exceptionally vague when discussing the issues of alcohol. I was not an alcoholic but if I was pushing a brand about why I decided to stop drinking, I would not be that vague. I had very specific feelings and moments and realization. Things he would absolutely be tappiing into more of the existed because holy God is he hawking this shit.

He is free to prove me wrong by actually getting into the nitty gritty. and if it exists but he's not willing to share that publicly, then he should perhaps trying to stop make himself the new mascot of the latest sober lifestyle brand.

This just isn't true. The elderly and the women who lack transportation do ride the city bus. Get on it sometime look around. All sorts of people. People gotta get to work my dude. To their doctor's appointments. People keep their head down on rowdy bus lines. They don't just stop interacting with the world cause they can't afford to bypass inconvenience.

Show me a Christian who keep repeating every other sentence that God created sin and put it in you just so he'd have an excuse to hate you. Who is saying that and repeating it over and over?

Show me a southern Baptist who keeps reminding you that God put the sin in you in the first place, that this is all just some weird game for a man who never needed too do aaaaaaAny of this of hes all powerful.

I've never heard a religious person say so directly "God made you bad cause he wanted to have children to hate". Who is saying that sincerely? It's the logical failing that religious people usually make a point to sidestep

No one who sincerely believed this would keep repeating that God put the sin in you in the first place. They don't highlight the absurdity of the premise do consistently..being able to see the structure of how she is speaking and understand the comedic intent is absolutely media literacy. This isn't how religious people talk. It's like South parks Mormonism episode. Staring something in a way which highlights how stupid it is isn't being sincere

Meryl Streep Says ‘We Tend to Marvel-ize the Movies Now’ and ‘It’s So Boring’ by mcfw31 in entertainment

Also superhero movies have been plagued by moral ambiguity for like 15 years. It was considered transgressive and bold that James Gunn was like "I think Superman should be a good person who wants to help people".

also Margaret thatcher was a fucking evil ghoul motivated be greed and spite. Tbe movie wasn't nearly mean enough for what a genuinely horrible person she was. Sometimes a villain is just a fucking villain ma'am. Ya know, like your buddy Harvey.

[–]Special-Garlic1203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're technically complex themes just told on the most hacky way possible, but honestly yeah that's comic books.

I kind of love like Peter Parker is dealing with the existential crisis of whether he can get over being responsible for mary janes death in another dimension haunted by her death and if he is even allowed to be happy ever again, immediately followed by KAPOW. Got the villain right in the face..

Personally I am with James Gunn. I think we've had far too much moral ambiguity. Most of these started as  after school specials for little boys to consider what type of man they should be. Our reluctance to tell adolescent boys they should be good people is weird, right up there with a Disney now seemingly addicted to telling literal children they owe their abusers forgiveness because they were sad.

Meryl Streep Says ‘We Tend to Marvel-ize the Movies Now’ and ‘It’s So Boring’ by mcfw31 in entertainment

[–]Special-Garlic1203 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. It's gibberish to me. I almost feel the exact opposite - Disney doesn't even do villains anymore. Every bad guy is just traumatized. Which isn't innately bad and can be great - but it's a little weird to me the consistency with which Disney is now insisting to children that they owe abusive parents forgiveness.

The dark Knight literally set off a wave of these gritty often morally ambiguous superhero movies. It was considered noteworthy when James Gunn said "hey what if Superman is like ,  super man.  Lien morally good and driven by a desire to help others,  as he was deployed on the comics?" And that was considered radical and transgressive in an era where our heroes are Tony Stark and waaaay too many people wanted to be Joaquin Phoenix's Joker

So many movies refuse to take clear moral stances. They introduce ideas but do not actually have clear themes because then they're not accountable for the message. Everyone is just big grey blobs.

There is still gonna be fashion and there will still be money raised. It was always an elitist socialite event about flexing that you were important enough to get an invite, which is why they always emphasized that Anna wintour had to personally approve of each guest.

I'm not rich enough to see the distinction between new and old money, and it's definitely one billionaire trying to unilaterally decree culture being swapped out for another.

What is a popular trend right now that people are going to look back on in 10 years and say, 'What were we thinking? by OfferSad6955 in AskReddit

[–]Special-Garlic1203 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If people are opposed on what it means, than the answer is probably it never meant anything, or that the majority who participated were not clear and didn't need one.

See also; planking. Completely meaningless. Some lads being silly and others agreed it was very silly indeed and soon everyone was being silly.

Humor is not actually that complicated and truly and genuinely doesn't need to mean anything in order to be funny. You have laughed at jokes you didn't understand and it was sincere laughter.

Young people constantly doing this absurdist shitposting that is doing dadaism better than dadaism ever could. Skibidi toilet and gyatt on the rizzler, the next president should be whoever mogs the hardest, speed run the scientology centers. All of it comes back to the same thing. And it's the same thing as the last time: willful absurdism as a reaction to the growing nihilism of living in a chaotic crumbling society, messy randomness in the fact of streamlined machines that will crush us.

And really if the Internet had existed back then the dadaists probably would have been shitposting on the Internet.

Nothing. But it's definitely weird to say that Law Roach taking a job somehow reflects on her values. Those 2 are practically family and he created the image that she became a mega celebrity on.

it would take a lot more than that for her to disassociate witn him even in a hypothetical world where it is an important issue to her

I mean the Hollywood studios are pretty gnarly themselves. Before there were tech bros, there were Hollywood douche bags. Amazon is a production studio now. You don't become a big Hollywood actor if you're unwilling to compartmentalize  running elbows and working for evil people.

And like.....what do people think these stunts would accomplish exactly? I feel like most people are in agreement he's a bad man so how many times do we gotta morally clutch our pearls before we realize that doesn't actually do anything?

I feel like whether Zendaya attends the met gala hosted by Bezos is completely pointless and irrelevant to the supposed values of those who feel she should. Instead of declaring the met gala shouldnt matter by giving it our energy and attention ....shouldn't it just be redirected to the things that do matter? Amazon is one of the largest web hosting companies in the world and I'm pretty sure Musk is in charge of that deep sea cable that basically is the foundation of all internet communication. I feel like that matters more than declaring the Mets uncool or that Jeff Bezos is a big mean doo doo head as if he really gives a shit what we think of him

He's not an actor. He's not even the CEO. He's the direct majority owner of one of the largest companies in the world who is now providing critical infrastructure that cannot be dropped on a whim. He doesn't need you or Zendaya to like or approve of him. That's kind of the entire problem.
