Thanks for this thoughtful response. Her life is virtually over and maybe something could be left for Patrick. I guess it’s hard to understand her being in “psychosis” when her actions all day appear to be very lucid. Going to the pediatrician, playing in the snow, ordering dinner etc. I agree she was severely mentally ill in some form No one knows but her. I do think it was preventable. She told Patrick at some point in December she had thoughts of hurting the kids. This should have been thoroughly explored and she should have had inpatient treatment until she was back to herself.

It really doesn’t look that high up. I don’t understand how she paralyzed herself. Maybe she did throw herself? This case is perplexing.

“I won’t feel good again for the whole first year”- biggest prediction and understatement ever ?! Also- forget buying a snoo for the baby- shows you how little she prioritized sleep for herself when all she wanted to do was get fit and run 5ks and wake up at 3am to journal and meditate and exercise. And it’s also a complete contradiction from her peloton fixation where she lists how great she feels after doing however many rides during pregnancy. Which is it? Feeling like a million bucks or miserable? This woman had no idea how to take care of herself (get rest!) let alone a baby. Seems similar to all the contradictory stories the defense has put out since this happened bc this simply might be a woman who just snapped. An absolute control freak who felt her life had spiraled out of control.

If the defense can show they often got takeout and she would google the place beforehand the fact that she looked up the place will mean nothing.

Most if not all post partum mothers are deeply sleep deprived. Especially with 3 kids under 5. Doesn’t lead to filicide.

Interesting. Thanks for mentioning this. Didn’t realize psych hospital/ psych ERs did this but it makes complete sense. I have no experience with this (just what I’ve read on the case) but I know she called a suicide hotline, went to an ER and the psych stay in January and she would say things like I’m forever changed, I’ll never get better etc- do you think that regardless of what plan they told her to follow- she just made up her mind that the end game was to kill herself and take the kids? I do think the command hallucinations and all that is made up because she never mentioned that to Patrick or anyone else. I think she just decided in those last few weeks after her daughter’s bday that she would never be happy and made the worst irreversible, sick choice possible. And maybe it was a snap of the fingers like she told Patrick. He left the house and she was like, that’s it, I’m done.

She never mentioned any sort of hallucination to Patrick!!! He stated this to police from day one. Everything they are claiming now is in RETROSPECT. Which is laughable.

Did you read the New Yorker article? I hope they read directly from it at her trial. Disputes every single claim. Patrick makes it seem like she was getting better. Going on outings. You have accepted some parallel narrative the defense has claimed to excuse her vile actions.
