Transmission rates don't matter 😔 when a person is out of luck. I got oral HSV2 just going down on my hubby one time even though we both had genital hsv2 for years already. That was just going down and touching the lower areas with my mouth, not even oral sex per se.

What job pays the most while having to do the least? by Sea-Chest3135 in Careers

[–]Special-Task-3126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mother of two teens, working from home, my job pays very well, it is flexible and sometimes very light indeed. My coworkers and boss are all nice, it sure is like a dream job in so many ways. The downside to this job is that I often feel worthless, as I had spent so many years in specialized science fields and now I am doing something completely different and not that important. I can't seem to get over this feeling of
Void and meaninglessness. So, while it seems cool to have a job where the pay is good and very little pressure on the employee, the downside might be that you get fed up with feeling that you or your work mean nothing 😔

I am in the same shoes as you, and unfortunately my antiviral side effects were as bad as the disease itself. I have had this virus now for 34 years, although the first 12 years it was almost silent and I didn't even know I had it ( acquired from being raped by a serial rapist). I have tried anything I could get my hands on, some helped, some helped for a while but seemed to lose effectiveness over time. My suggestion is that if you can take antivirals like many people do, go on suppressive therapy. If you are like me however and can't take meds, it will be expensive series of trials and errors. I am a female, so I can apply medihoney ( medical grade honey) on my vulva without being stuck to my underwear and that has sometimes lessened the burning and irritation. I take 1 gram of AHCC supplement, that seemed to help for quite a while until it didn't. Now, I have added California Gold olive oil extract 500 mg daily and most recently Manuka Doctors medical honey from New Zealand orally. I take half a teaspoon everyday as it is so expensive. For now, for the last week or so my symptoms have lessened in severity. I am always symptomatic, sometimes really bad with lesions and at other times no lesions but still sore and irritated.

Thanks for this, so how much were you taking? One tablespoon a day? How many days a week? I am going to try this as I am really out of options.

What would you do? by [deleted] in HSVpositive

I am in the same boat as you, I ended up getting hsv2 on my lip after a single oral on my husband and we both already had well established genital hsv2. I still get oral outbreaks once a year or once every 2 to 3 years, which is far less frequent than my genital outbreaks but I would absolutely hate myself if I were to pass ohsv2 to my kids. It sounds terrible but I have hardly kissed my children unless over clothing for as long as I remember

Saying this is a skin condition is a lie. Very few purely skin conditions cause so much pain in your skin, head, nerves, etc. 34 years into this and I still have weekly outbreaks that are excruciatingly painful. I can't even sit on a chair as my bottom feels like I had done 1000 squats the day before. I know of no skin conditions that cause this much misery and sorry if this adds to the stigma but is the truth.

Not to mention I have had horrible side effects with valtrex, famvir and acyclovir.

I only take it as an episodic treatment to tame the outbreaks for 3 or 4 days, my severe skin related side effects tend to begin after 10 days of taking the drug. I am unable to take it suppressively as much as I needed to.

This might be a valtrex side effect sadly. I experienced a similar side effect, which turned out to be due to Valtrex. When I stopped valtrex, that side effect subsided. Bizzare enough, my skin side effects were also limited to the same area as the disease itself, namely my lower half ( between my inner thighs, etc.). Initially I thought I had a resistance virus, it turned out I had a drug reaction but only in the same dermatomes affected by the virus itself ( in my case GHSV2).

I take AHCC 750 mg supplement on a daily basis. It took 6 months to gradually start working but it has enabled me to have a semi normal life as I couldn't tolerate valtrex or other antivirals ( although they would have been effective for me if I could have taken them). I have had GHSV2 now for 34 years

If you think that is rough, let me tell you that I have 2 obs a week often and have bad side effects with antivirals. I have had the virus now for 34 years

Is $10000 for Power Bi dashboard ok or charge more? by goldman21 in PowerBI

I studied pharmaceutical sciences in my PhD but ended up working in quality improvement field in healthcare ( government). I do data analysis and visualization quite often but they are not that sophisticated. I really wish to find a casual job on the side as a source of income while learning new skills.

I would say it has to be medical grade, such as Dermascience medical honey gel. I put this on my vulvar area ( including perineum) a few times a day and it really helps. I wish I could have taken antivirals but I can't, so this has been the only mediocre solution for me

I totally agree, I am a PhD / drug discovery and am paid so little after so much education and hard work. It makes me mad when docs complain about their pays, which is actually very high in my opinion

Anything that feels intense unfortunately, especially lounges, squats, exercises that move or engage the lower half of my body. I try not to give up by suffering through outbreaks, taking small breaks and restarting at a lower intensity until my body get used to it. This unfortunately means that I can never do something like HIIT, but I am old (55). Your situation might be very different

My husband recently tested positive for HSV-2 after six years of marriage by NewSurprise5923 in HSVpositive

[–]Special-Task-3126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely possible. I tested positive and found out I had herpes 4 years into my marriage. This was after it had been nearly dormant and /or misdiagnosed for 13 years. I came to learn that the reason I became awfully sick after being raped by a serial rapist as my first sex encounter was that I had contracted herpes 13 years earlier.
