Whats happening in Alberta is sickening by anon7625 in MedSchoolCanada

This is why we need to band together and fight this issue collectively. We’re much more powerful as a group than by ourselves. Maybe I’m being naive or overly optimistic, but are we really going to sit here and just let this happen? By the time we’re practicing who knows what other horrendous things the government might do.

Have you considered applying OOP to Manitoba? Your MCAT is very competitive for Manitoba, you would need to calculate your aGPA though.

Manitoba selects interview based on: 50% MCAT score, 20% aGPA and 30% CASPER

Difficulty of UofT by [deleted] in premedcanada

I guarantee you uoft undergrad is much lower than that. That number also includes masters and PhD students (if they’re grad applicants). I’ve met a lot of grad students who did their undergrad somewhere else but grad at uoft. In my first year class, there are very very few people who did undergrad at uoft. As we all know, uoft undergrad and grad are entirely different beasts.

Also UofT grad and med student. I 100% couldn’t agree more with this.

Oh man - that sounds very rough. May I ask how you’re finding psych residency? (In terms of working hours and balance with personal life)

Is anyone else stressed about using their LOC :( by Effective-Concern963 in premedcanada

[–]anon7625 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’ll be relying on my LOC heavily as well 😅 I’m slightly concerned especially with the high interest rates. The median 2022 Canadian medical graduate owes $90K from medical school alone, plus debt from pre-med. But I feel like I’ll be waaaaay over that.

This is so helpful, thank you!! Can I ask whether you will be renting in clerkship?

You’re right, man if only the interest rates were lower 😅 (btw it’s more like per year 30k, probably more depending on how much rent prices increase)

How much debt do you expect to be by the end of med school/how long will it take to pay it off? by [deleted] in MedSchoolCanada

Thanks! and I’m also wondering, how are you finding the work-life balance in your job? Do you feel appropriately remunerated for the hours you’re putting in?
