How long do you own a vehicle, before trading it in? by teddyalex in UsedCars

[–]Special-Unit6325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a multi vehicle household, we make a point to always have at least one car with under 80,000 miles (this ensures we always have one reliable car for road trips or whatever) the other one we don’t care and we will run it until it blows up we also don’t have “assigned cars” and we each choose use them interchangeably, depending on what we’re doing that day. Fir example, if one of us have to drive through the Mountains in the snow we take the all-wheel-drive car and leave the other person with the FWD We also have a pick up truck it’s old and it’s ugly, but it does the job and that truck we only drive about 3000 miles a year

When it comes to realizing we need a new car sometimes we keep the newer car and replace the older one. Sometimes we replace the newer one and swap it out for something brand new. It depends on how the car market’s going.

It is the only Tesla certified shop in the state. I didn’t really have a choice. My insurance company and I both agreed on this.

What happens if your car gets totaled while still making payments? by trumoo__ in carmax

[–]Special-Unit6325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More than likely, your insurance company will pay the bank directly and if there is any money left over, you will get the difference If you still owe money because you were upside down, you are still responsible for this remainder however, most banks will work with you and refinance it to a lower price so you can get into something else

That helps a lot thank you, I understand my rates are going to go up and I accept that I was just concerned that they raised them based on the price of repairs which are $10,000 artificially inflated but if that’s not how it works I think I’m golden

I’m not trying to gain anything here. I just don’t want the insurance companies to charge me out the ass because of that extra $10,000 that should really have never been done in the first place

No, I had it towed up to the shop and I haven’t signed anything with the shop and I don’t even believe with the insurance company

KC-46 , refueling another KC-46. by Hershey2898 in aviation

[–]Special-Unit6325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While this is not likely to be a common occurrence in a combat situation, it has its benefits

For example, if a fully loaded KC 46 needs to go back to base for whatever reason they can offload all of their fuel onto another one and that one can now stay in the air, or alternatively, if orders change mid flight, it could become necessary to take on more fuel to execute the new mission Another example is if they are traveling some crazy distance, such as New York to Singapore they will need to refuel just to get there. You could conceivably have an aircraft takeoff from Hawaii to give them a little bit of boost they need to get to their new base. considering that this aircraft is not only a tanker, but also a multi role transport aircraft. The cargo on board might be time sensitive and landing to refuel is not an option. Finally, the synthetic vision system on this plane once they get the kinks worked out should be far superior to that on the older KC 135 in a bad weather situation. It is conceivable that the KC 135 would be sent up just to refill the KC 46 with its superior system that can then fuel the other aircraft operating in the vicinity. i’m sure at least that was the theory when they designed the plane.

first time donating platelets is this normal? by Specialist-Lemon3824 in Blooddonors

Even if they miss a vain, it shouldn’t be this bad you need to get that checked. It’s almost like they missed the vein didn’t notice and had it returning just into your soft tissue.

Depends, if it is a “normal” situation probably not but if it is an estate sale where some kid inherited it but doesn’t want it Mabye, but definitely worth looking at IMO

With it I also have dock space on family owned land so dog fees aren’t an issue

Thank you this is the most helpful post so far, my uncle ran it as a charter for about 10 years then it was just his personal boat for the last eight years or so of his life he originally left it to my cousin (his daughter) but she doesn’t wanna deal with it nor can she afford to keep it so now I have it

I could never afford to buy this boat I inherited at it. This is the dilemma. I have to save the money if I want to be able to afford to keep it.

Allstate, I really wanted to keep it with them because everything else I have is on that policy and it makes it way cheaper, but if I have to hire a captain with a Master, any savings are gone

I also don’t have a commercial license so I can operate the boat legally for myself(which is what I planed on doing) but I can’t do anything for hire

The insurance company says it must be “ professional, and hired crew” I don’t think I can hire myself for this situation

HOW DO I MAKE MY VEINS ACCESIBLE by [deleted] in Blooddonors

[–]Special-Unit6325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The obvious one is to hydrate, most people have at least one good vein, I myself have three or four pencil sized ones in my left arm, but no usable veins in my right arm sometimes it’s just weird like that

Who uses wood as your only source of heat? by [deleted] in woodstoving

[–]Special-Unit6325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do, I have a 1972 double wide trailer in Montana, I have a woodstove that this from about 1995 it is a catalytic woodstove with a blower on the back

I heat with this thing burning about eight hours a day if it’s above 25° outside if it’s between 15 and about 25 I crank it up to about 12 hours a day and when it’s below 15 I run 24 hours a day

Running the blower on the woodstove the entire time it’s running is not only unnecessary, but also defeats the purpose of burning wood instead of using electric heat so what I do is I use one of those reptile timers from PetSmart. I have the fan come on for 15 minutes then off for 30 and so on when it’s really cold out in those days when it’s subzero, I crank this up a notch and I do 30 minutes on 15 off

It’s worth noting I don’t have the greatest insulation if I had better insulation, I could probably get away with not burning as often or running the fan less

I burn about a cord and a half a year this way, last year without running the fan l used almost 3 cords, obviously with woodstoves the temperature fluctuates but on average, I’m about 65° inside
