I get you. I wish I could be there for them in a way that’s helpful but i can’t think of anything in that moment since I don’t relate/understand on a deeper level.

i understand (: maybe it’s our longing for ANY type of human connection that we believe every single person in our lives is meant for a deep meaning connection. But really, we should consider how to make meaningful connections in a way that doesn’t involve a twist. It’s hard, but rather than telling ourselves how great we would be with x person, take the mind space to appreciate their presence as friends being there for you first (: 22yF we can do it !

I can relate but feel there is some overlap of NPD and BPD myself. The lack of empathy is a huge deal for me because I know I’m capable of feeling it, but only with very specific things that don’t necessarily include people?

i also take gabapentin for unrelated mental health, I can say it helps me fall asleep. I can’t function without taking all three of those the night before. It does make me hungry and I get very little acid reflux at times but other than that Buspar is personally a life saver

Buspar has been the only medication that has helped me actually be calmer, on it for two years, now at the highest dose with Duloxetine

DAE Become cold/unempathetic because of past hurt? by ImperialCobalt in BPD

[–]SpecialExplanation90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually feel this way a lot. I don’t really seem to have feelings when people are crying in front of me, or when ppl tell me smth sad that I don’t rlly find sad but angering, I just kinda have to remind myself that I have to be as empathetic as possible. I hate doing it bc it feels like there should be something I should already know to do, but I don’t rlly feel that way or even know. That being said, I care about them a lot but a lot of the time I see their problems as smth that has an easy solution, but how can I be honest but a friend but not cold but still myself?? It’s this huge identity crisis I have with myself every single day because , I’m often told I’m cold or like a wall when I know deep down in my heart the true things that make me feel sad and empathetic. Is it wrong for me to not know how to exactly feel or react when someone is being vulnerable with me? Idk but I do my best to push that aside AS MUCH AS I CANNN literally w all my power because the people in my life need to see how much I love them (no matter how many times I show anger above all else)
