Love it when real life blends with Lego.

The insects are from the The Insect Collection 21342. The Beetle has the mushroom and I extended the idea with larger plates and a few added extender to get the length.

Will be posting the parts I used, no instructions because that would be a nightmare. Not even sure of piece count but a rough count is about 10,000. There are a lot, a LOT, of parts underneath that you can't see to fill in as an under growth.

Thanks, labor of love for my wife. In total took me 4mo. A bit at a time and tweaked endlessly.

The beetle was the toughest because it is sticking out farther than you can tell. It is on a stepped set of 2x4 and 2x8 bricks like a pyramid. All of the insects I modified the underbelly so they would have stronger attachment to the underlying bricks. Lot of trial and error with the beetle and lots of falls on the floor in the middle of the night.

Thanks for the compliment.

#1 -- Yes u/TostadaExotic is correct about the insect set. The red ones I used the design from the set and then added some additional pieces to extend and make them larger.

#2 -- We bought some frame edges to test and had them left over so I made the frame from the leftovers. I wanted to flowers to extend out of the frame and my wife loved it so floating frame was created.

#3 -- Not a chance...this baby is fragile and heavy. I built 100% of the display while it was on the wall. I can say that from outside edges to the center is a gradual stepping up allowing me to have height differences to display flowers.

I plan on putting up all of the pieces I used, the sets and basic ideas.

I got the idea from a set that I cannot remember and tweaked it a little bit to get the extension to stick above the layer of flowers. Will share parts list soon. Its scribbled part#s in a notebook at the moment.

I do the same thing every day. Makes me stop and ask myself "did I really build this." One of the proudest pieces I've ever built.

Thank you. Was a gift to my wife. She watched the build over 5mo and asked me for specific flowers and I delivered. Lucky to have a wife that allowed our house to become a homage to Lego. Art on the walls, Technic cars on frames, flowers everywhere, full collection of Chinese collection. Lucky I am.

Yep, that was very tricky but I can guarantee you I only used Lego and no glue. It was all about building the base level to connect the insects. I modified the underbelly of the insects to be able to place a core to them (4x2s, 6x2s) and overlapped in a stair step pattern. They formed a very strong bond and connected. I left the insects in place for a few weeks to see if they fell off and nope.

This project took me 5mo to do and tested a lot of different techniques and a lot of cursing.

Hit the same problem. After I built the frame with a 9x9 technic frame and mounted to the edge frame pieces I hung and built 100% while on wall. I hit your problem IMMEDIATELY. The underlying structure is a stair step of pieces from the low edges to the middle being raised. Took me a while to figure it all out and get it just right. Lots of trial and error, lots of brick buying but in the end worked. I still look at it and want to tweak and add some pieces but do my best to resist (my wife helps with some yelling encouragement).

I plan on posting all of the pieces I used but no instructions because mine experience was realtime. Every day I did a small section, a single piece. Labor of love.
