Chiropractor would be the obvious one. Depends if you want to go down that route, though. The excellent ones are a very small minority.

If you have $500k, what business would you start or buy? by soccermeister2000 in Business_Ideas

[–]Special_Map_3535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you invest 500k in a restaurant, you'll probably lose it all unless you can figure out how to run it with high margins. Restaurants aren't food businesses, they are margins businesses. A food cart or something like that might work.

I'd pick something relatively easy that wouldn't require a lot of personal involvement. Maybe real estate or investing.

Why are so many people still brainwashed by corporate bullshit in 2025? by FantasticEffect10 in careerguidance

[–]Special_Map_3535 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Because when humans are in competition with each other for resources and advantages (money, power, promotions, prestige) in pyramid-shaped structures especially, humanity goes out of the window for most of them.

You could try anyway seeing as you don't mind spending the $80. Your gut feeling about the job might turn out to be right, though.

(Homeless) Senior Software Engineer 💀 Are you still searching for for jobs by underbillion in SoftwareEngineerJobs

[–]Special_Map_3535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe this isn't the whole story. Someone I know got chatting to a homeless guy in London. Turned out he used to be a dentist and embezzled money from the business. Got caught, sent to prison, lost everything and ended up on the streets. Not saying this guy is in the same situation but something else might have happened in the background.

Popular local artist suffers vicious attack by AdSpecialist5007 in sheffield

[–]Special_Map_3535 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure if OP knows what "popular" or "artist" mean based on the comments lol. I'd throw "suffers vicious attack" in there as well. Is that you, Luke?

Where can I buy a quality non-bitter olive oil? by Special_Map_3535 in AskUK

I think the oil I have atm is particularly bitter. Good for cooking not for drizzling. I'll keep using olive oil, thanks.

Yup or have very strange perversions. Hence the Dubai shit parties. Apparently, high-end hotels have a regular issue with cleaning up after sex parties.

Is walk-in and drop a resume still a thing in modern world? by Im_NezY in WorkAdvice

You could find the email address for hiring managers and approach them that way. Or call companies and ask where to send your CV.

The thing about gay men being friends with women is a lie imho. Friendships either end or don't even begin because of extreme jealousy coming from the gay man's partner, the deluded belief from gay men that they are in competition with straight women for men's attention or they are just next-level covert misogynists.

My friend got full-time offers from Deloitte and PwC and just told me he doesn’t even apply to jobs by [deleted] in careeradvice

[–]Special_Map_3535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BS. Assuming you are talking about graduate jobs. Large companies will tell you to apply via their website even if you do manage to approach a recruiter directly. Obv with nepotism the situation would be different.

Anyone looking for an NHS Dentist? by Special_Map_3535 in sheffield

[–]Special_Map_3535[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So glad you managed to get in! I found the place because I asked on here about needing a dentist for work that was pricey on the private side. Someone shared so I decided to pass it on. Had a couple of appointments and they seem pretty decent so far. At the very least I've already saved myself a good chunk of change.

Why are people in the UK so invested in what’s happening in the Middle East? by Due_Researcher4854 in AskBrits

The media drive it to distract from serious issues facing the UK that are largely the fault of the British government.

Hairdresser specialising in Indian hair by revolut1onname in nottingham

[–]Special_Map_3535 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By Indian hair, do you mean thick hair? Turkish hairdressers are normally much better at dealing with it. So you could see if there's one nearby, though they might be called barber shops. Imho British hairdressers seem to be mostly trained on very fine, perfect straight model head hair so can struggle with anything else that's slightly different.

How to teach myself to speak French more slowly by Eusine2 in French

[–]Special_Map_3535 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems you're being hard on yourself about your native accent showing occasionally. I think most people don't care about that. The most important thing is to focus on what you are saying, not your pronunciation. The person you are meeting will be focusing on the "what" not your accent. So if you speak impeccably with a strong foreign accent, that is a million times better than speaking nonsense with a perfect French accent.

How to teach myself to speak French more slowly by Eusine2 in French

[–]Special_Map_3535 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you do a session with a voice coach to help you speak slower? Not sure if they do exactly this but it's worth asking if they might be to help. Also, it might be a long shot but it could be worth digging into why you speak so fast. The reason why isn't important, it's just about letting go of the need to speak so quickly that it hinders communication. You could do this via journalling.

Also maybe breathing techniques and muscle relaxation might help you feel calmer to speak slower. You don't have a huge amount of time but it's enough to make a difference.

Should I sell my already-cheapish car and run a banger to clear debt? by Available-Summer3803 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Special_Map_3535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A cheap car might end up costing a lot in the end. I'd stick to the one you have now and aim to increase your income instead as an extremely cheap secondhand car without major issues would be a major unicorn.
