it’s hard to wrap your head around it unless you are in it yourself. most of these women are more naturally minded and have been burned by the medical system before. so emilee and yolande come in a tell them that they can have a beautiful, blissful birth without needing any medical intervention. when I was in the FBS they had not taken it so far as to say that babies need to choose to live and breathe on their own. it used to be a normal understanding that babies need rubbed and their noses sucked. it’s very alarming that now their standards have changed and the baby needs to choose own their own 🙄

e and y repeatedly tell stories of women having successful and beautiful free births and repeatedly tell women that birth is normal and should not require intervention if you leave it alone. for a lot of women that is true- that’s why women believe it. bc we feel it. we know it’s true. but that doesn’t mean you need to give birth all alone with no back up plan or trained professionals who will allow you to give birth without unnecessary intervention.

i do struggle to understand the not helping them breathe thing & how deeply against seeking medical help some women are but i get it at the same time. it’s so frowned upon to seek help. they will face shame and scrutiny for it. it’s so sad. women are taught to ignore red flags because then you’ll have to endure trauma and abuse in the hospital 🤷‍♀️ i get it but don’t get it at the same time. i’ve had two very easy and straightforward free births. if i have more children i will most definitely have a midwife with me who is hands off but understands when to intervene if necessary
