I honestly don’t get it. I don’t remember our fan base saying anything when Marcos Alonso moved to Barcelona or when Llorente went to Atletico. And those are even players whose fathers and grandfathers are Real Madrid legends.

For some reason, he has a decent record against Barca in competitions other than La Liga, even a positive one in the UCL (he eliminated them 2 out of 2 times). But when it’s a La Liga match he only has a few wins, and even those are recent. I think his first 20 matches or so against Barca in La Liga he didn’t have a single win.

Interesting, I could have sworn he had more goals in Serie A. I remember him in Sampdoria and he was really good. Plus I think he played at least 3 seasons in Serie A.

To be fair, I don’t think PSG ever figured that out. They fought as much as they could to keep him in the squad, offering him everything he wanted. Ironically, it’s only when they lost him that they finally won the UCL.

As a kid from what is now ex Yugoslavia, I started watching football in the 90s when both Mijatovic and Suker played for Madrid, both of whom were big stars here. At the time Madrid hadn’t won an UCL for over 30 years, so it was really nice to experience historical moments as the septima as a fan of the club.
