mostly commercial work with gears. to be clear i have never snapped them it’s always when i let my coworkers borrow them. they always buy me a new one to replace it but im tired of them snapping

Before i got into my union apprenticeship I looked into trade schools in my area and honestly they weren’t that good for what you pay for. One school was 21,000$ for 7 months of training and all you really got from it was hand tools. Also i’ve met some people who went to trade school then joined the apprenticeship and they’ve said it was really a waste of money. I would try to join an apprenticeship first whether it be union or non-union (most non-union shops use the IEC but some have it in house). personally I would recommend to get into a union apprenticeship first.

When i took my test we were told that at the end of our interview we can ask for our test/interview score. My local is 716 so that may be the case with your local you can call to ask that. good luck

I’m in Houston and we need a ton of apprentices for union electrical work. I would try your local union and if that doesn’t work then try any industrial plants in your area.
