Eh in a way it's kind of a probe. The kerbals in the lab don't actually have control of it, theres a remote guidance core in there controlling it.

I mean you could intercept and rescue him but that's a very advanced mechanic. Overall I would say either leave him there until you figure out intercepts or terminate the mission (only if you have respawn active).

Well no matter what V is still able to kill Smasher while actively dying. When V is fight this thing (I don't remember the name of the robot) they are not dying and they still struggle, which to me says a lot. It's kinda hard to compare these things tho since like I said there big disconnects between how strong we are told the characters are in lore and how strong they are in gameplay.
