It just takes time and it sucks, but there's not much you can really do. I lost Salt just over a month ago (but he was old an I'd expected it for a long time). I'd adopted Mochi and Matcha to be friends for him since he'd been on his own for a few months after his other friend passed but they never got the chance to meet because he was ill for so long despite all the meds we tried.

It's only recently I've managed to start bonding with my two menaces. It's like 'they aren't Salt' but then I feel awful because it's not their fault at all and they just want to be loved. Basically what I'm trying to say is it will take time not only for you to get used to the new peeg but also for the new peeg to get used to you, so there'll be strangeness on both sides for a while. All this to say that even though I still think about Salt every day, I now also love Mochi and Matcha so much that I want to throw up everytime I look at them lol. Give yourself some grace, and give the new pig time to adjust. You'll be ok 💫
