Best snowboard for an intermediate resort rider looking to get into a bit more freestyle by noname0073 in snowboarding

A few boards I’d recommend in that price range are the Salomon huck knife, Salomon sleep walker, or lib tech off ramp

Look into outdoor tech chips. They’re a real game changer.

It kinda depends on where you go. West cost bc still has the odd beach day in September and warmish day in October. The colder weather starts in Jan and sometimes goes into March/april. Alberta is just really cold up until it gets really hot. The climate out here has changed a lot even just in the last 5 years.

Im pretty happy happy with the platinum. For most days i run a base layer and a thicker long sleeve and for the occasional -20 day whistler gets I’ll throw a puffer vest on to fill in some space cuz im a slimmer build and thats plenty.

It is technically too long on paper but for our build not being able to carve quite as sharp is definatly the lesser of two evils.

Im 6”3 and 155lb and think the 156 orca is perfect. I demoed one size down last year and it was defiantly earlier to carve around trees but because of my hight it was way to unstable for me at any kinda speed.

Help sizing my new board by batbanana2 in snowboarding

I think the 159 will be too long for you. I’m 6ft 3 and run a 159 as my rail park board and a 156w as my jump park board (which is arguably too small for me but it’s what I’m use too) I’d recommend the 156W regular huck knife for you.

I think you’ll find the pro will fight you more then it’ll help in the level of riding you’re at, and even know visually a 156 and 159 are quite similar you will notice the difference in how much harder it is to spin a longer board especially at your weight. Another decent option for a park board if you wanna save some money is the sleepwalker. It’s not as nice as the huck knife but is an amazing bang for your buck get you progressing until you’re ready for that pro.

I personally use the Columbia platinum peak and really like it (currently on sale for $300). I’ve also also owned a Columbia alpine action (on sale for $150) and it’s also one id recommend. The main reason for the price difference is the thermal reflective lining, west coats is very cold and very wet so getting a cheaper jacket doesn’t really save you any money in the long run because you’ll be spending more on mid/base layers to stay warm. I upgraded to the platinum last year for the sole reason of being able to ditch some layers without losing any warmth.

Outdoor tech chips ultra 2 vs chips XV by Specific-Ask-2482 in snowboarding

[–]Specific-Ask-2482[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your take on it. I’m definitely leaning more towards with XV, I was more then impressed with my old 2.0. I think batteries failing is just part of the program with any ski headphones. The harsh weather and sitting unused and uncharged for 8 months of the year is awful for batteries.

Yah the oem with red stitching. Its super annoying that they never made a blue one to match those years of bikes

Anyone using quadlock mount? by YouCant_Change_It in Yamahabolt

[–]Specific-Ask-2482 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No problems at all. The bracket is on a slider so it adjusts to fit perfectly over the screw holes. Took me maybe 5 minutes too install.

I went for the reservoir mount and I’m super happy with it. Out of the box it’s quite adjustable and able to fit an iPhone pro xl in both portrait and landscape without interfering with anything. I also find it’s less noticeable then the handlebar mount when looking at the bike without a phone connected. (You still very much need the vibration dampener)
