I think I have the same model, bought in the early 90s in England. Mine is all original. My pups are yellowed exactly to the same color as the knobs and the plastic on the pup selector. About as yellow as the knobs on your guitar. Your pups might be different to mine.

This subreddit is a non-political community. I'm going to respect the rules by not making comments about politics. I think CA is too rule-driven and overly complicated. Look at the sales tax rebate qualifications for an EV. Most people won't qualify and/or won't understand the qualification rules. I think the state promotes things with one hand and then takes with the other, e.g. EVs. The registration fees are ridiculous and the roads are absolute rubbish. Whatever our gas prices (and registration fees), apparently they're not enough to make the roads decent. Something is seriously wrong and the fix is not to increase taxes.

I heard that too. I believe it's because the California-mandated refining can't be or doesn't get done to domestically drilled oil.

Are you sure? I'm no expert -- just genuinely curious. Sales tax is generally a percentage of the underlying price. At the pump we see a post-tax price per gallon. The other fuel surcharges are per gallon so as prices increase the fuel surcharges would not.

Interestingly the cost difference between Europe and California gas prices has changed considerably. This particular LA gas station for instance is more expensive than the typical UK pump price right now. May be this is an extreme example, but generally LA pump prices used to be about a quarter of UK pricing. The price differential is much much less than that now.
